A skunk can stand on its front legs, lifting its tail up backwards, and spraying the predator with

gases from its hind end which smell extremely bad and scare most predators away.

The members of a family group form a semicircle, ready to attack if needed. If a zebra is injured, they will protect it from being attacked any more.

Defending territory, food or cubs, they will usually stand erect on their hind legs and sniff the air. Then they will charge.

Snakes defend themselves by spitting venom, biting, or secreting a foul stench. A hedgehog defends itself by rolling into a tight ball and pointing its spikes out. Also, they will extend their spikes and ram themselves into you, thus pricking you.

A deer can defend itself by using its legs to strike at its foe and with surprising power. It also can hear very good and run before danger gets too close.
