The tolerances on the conical shaft correspond t o conical angle-tolerance quality AT 3 to AT 7 according to DIN 7178 , Part 1 and the following Table 2 see also Fig. 2.The tolerance quality is specified in the relevant dimension Standard. Dimensiona - rear shoulder plane t o taper check dimension d l - with the tolerance of i 0.2 mm, ensures the correct longitudinal position of the 7/24 taper shank in the spindle nose. The conical angle tolerance AT, expressed as tolerance ATD o f the diameter difference dc - d~ in the measurement planes C and D , guarantees firm seating of the conical shank at the major taper diameter. The actual difference of the diameters dc and dD in the measurement planes C and D shall not be less than the value dc d D specified in Table 2 and not greater than dc d D + ATD.

Further Standards
Run-outs, undercuts; for IS0 metric screw threads according to DIN 13 DIN 76 Part 1 DIN 2080 Part 2 (at present still in draft form) 7/24 taper shanks for tools and clamping devices; Type B Clamping fasteners for holding 7/24 taper shanks; screw thread connection for fastening tools DIN 6369

Explanations
This Standard i s tactually identical with the following draft Standard issued by the International Organization ISO/DIS 297 *) - 1976: for Standardization (60) E: 7/24 tapers for tool shanks F: Cnes pour emmanchements d'outils conicite 7/24 and International Standard IS0 2583 *) - 1972: E: Tool shanks and equipment with 7/24 tapers - collar dimensions F: Queues d'outils et d'equipments aux cnes a conicite 7/24 - Dimensions de la collerette The following modifications and additions have been adopted compared with DIN 2080, April 1975 edition. The collar width k has been included. This can be calculated from the previous edition of DIN 2080 from f - (a ? e ) . Dimensionf has not been included because this would result in double dimensioning. Dimension f is contained in DIN 2080 Part 2 because this form is used for front clamping and hence precise definition of the taper measurement plane with respect to the front edge of the collar i s necessary so as to ensure satisfactory fastening. The dimension of the countersink l6 has been changed for shanks No. 30,40,50 and 55. This modification is not in conformity with ISO/DIS 297. I t does not interfere with automatic fastening of the shank according to DIN 2080 Part 1 with clamping devices according to DIN 6369. The centering arrangement i s stipulated as a 60' slope and protective countersink or a curved lead-in surface, a t the discretion of the manufacturer to conform with the current state of technology. The dimensioning i s stipulated with reference to the reference plane of the maximum dimension of the taper and hence also conforms to DIN 2079 as a functional dimension. The recess width e has been chosen so that it is equal to or less than the nominal dimension a. The nominal dimension of the collar diameter d , is in agreement with I S 0 2583 except for shanks No. 50 and 60 which have been included with dimensions 97.5 mm and 156mm. The smaller collar diameters have been selected for economic reasons and in addition have been allotted a tolerance of -g.4 mm. In DIN 2080 Part 1, for the first time tolerances on the conical shank according to DIN 7178 Part 1 in the tolerance qualities AT 3 t o A T 7 have been adopted. The relevant tolerance quality i s quoted in the individual Standards with 7/24 taper shanks according t o DIN 2080 Part 1. It is intended t o put forward these stipulations as a proposal t o the appropriate I S 0 Secretariat for inclusion in I S 0 297.
