INTRODUCTION:
Saint Patrick Church was built in Karachi at a cost of Rs.6000 in 1845 raised by Goan community through public subscription.It was sindhs first catholic church,now flanked to St. Patrick high school and monument.
LOCATION:
Saint Patrick,the seat of Roman archdiocese of Karachi is situated on Shahrah-e-Iraq formally known as Clarke market near Empress market in Karachi,Pakistan.Church lies in
quieter part of city and its a superb location for a place of worship,a place where one can pray and concentrate at offerings without any external interruption.
STRUCTURE STYLE:
Church is an example of gothic style structures,a style giving reflection of old era structures like palaces.Gothic style structures are not common these days as it is an expensive style of construction.
It measures from 52 ft to 22 ft in length and width. Structure is designed in such a way that all inside passages are airy and daylight makes glow every passage,hall and rooms of church. Structure contains multiple minarets (towers) with sign of crusade or different models of jesus engraved in marble. A complete limestone and fully marbled structure. Whole interior height is of noble contours of aspiring altar are seen to be the best advantage. Whole interior is painted in oil and windows are all of stained glass. Church with its board front and two striking corner spires were further enhanced by a grand marble monument in 1931. Monument is designed in such a way that in contains model of heaven and hell and the walls are engraved with the models of jesus Christ.
