NAME: ABILASH AMARTHALURI DEPARTMENT: COMPUTER SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING TERM: SPRING 2009

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
THIS IS THE GIST OF MY STATEMENT OF PURPOSE. I, Abilash Amarthaluri, take this opportunity to introduce myself as an Undergraduate(B.Tech) from V R SIDDHARTHA COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING(AUTONOMOUS) affiliated to Acharya Nagarjuna University (ANU), which is one of the finest institutions in imparting technical education in India and the 1st established private engineering college in our state. I wish to apply for graduate studies in Computer Science at your esteemed University for Spring-2009. In what follows I have tried to summarize my motivation towards graduate studies.

Why Graduate Study?

In this ever changing world of Technology, where each new day seeds a spate of new concepts and applications and passing day makes them obsolete, I want to attain the highest level of education and transcend new horizons in the chosen field. The vast application potential and tremendous scope for research in Computer Science field and its technology has always fascinated me and I am keen to continue my academic pursuit in this field. This led to the zeal of pursuing Graduate study that calls for personal commitment in fulfilling the crafts of independent research and dedicated involvement. In turn, I shall get intellectual satisfaction and gratification of becoming a contributor of knowledge, with greater personal rewards of memory and discovery. The achievement I had at my undergraduate level cannot quench my thirst for knowledge. There is a meaning and destination in everybodys life. I strongly feel that my life will be fulfilled and fruitful when I achieve something in life. My graduation can become a stepping stone to reach my destination. I believe that my graduate studies at your university can make me attain my noble achievement

Academic Background:
In the pursuit of knowledge, I have always adopted a rigorous approach in order to obtain an in-depth understanding of subject at hand. This is amply reflected in my consistent academic career. Through out my education, quantitative and analytical abilities have been my strengths. Mathematics especially interests me greatly and is proved by my task record in the subject. The pleasure obtained being absorbed in problems and finally arriving at the solution is immense. My natural propensity towards subjects involving mathematical concepts and logical thinking coupled with practical approach provided scope for innovations and applications of any analytical skills. The thorough background in science and ineluctability of Electronics in any aspect of life like in Engineering, Education, and Entertainment etc vindicated my choice and obviated my need to make Computer Science and Engineering my undergraduate major. I was given strong foundation in core subjects like C Language, C++, DBMS, Data Structures, Computer Networks, Cryptography and Network Security, Computer Organization, Internet Programming, Software Engineering, Advanced computer Architecture. These subjects aroused my research instincts when I realized I am really excited about the prospects of me being a part of such researches.

Preparation for Graduate Study:

In my Undergraduate studies I have benefited from the extent of Acharya Nagarjuna Universitys syllabi content that has given me a comprehensive exposure to the core areas of Computer Science and Engineering and a strong conceptual understanding of the same. In these four years, I have strived to maintain an approach expending independent effort in all my endeavors. Learning by me and sharing my knowledge with others has been most worthwhile, when comprehending a concept.

Areas of Interest:
My main objective during my undergraduate studies was to get an overview of various fields in Computer Science and Engineering and identify a field of interest in which I could pursue my research career. Because of their vast applications, Computer Science and Engineering, in general, have attracted me. I am especially enthralled to C, C++, DBMS, Computer Networks, Java, and Cryptography and network security. My practical training and my courses have given me plenty of exposure to these areas and I feel that I have sufficient motivation and aptitude to work in this field.

Reasons for Selecting University:

As I realized that my academic goal is not yet achieved and in order to reach the educational plateaus I desire, I need a good University like yours, which provides the best research facilities, excellent faculty, flexibility and a great student-professor interaction. I hope that my struggle, perseverance and triumph through my Undergraduate studies qualify me as an excellent student for Graduate study. I am confident that your University will be an ideal college for me to attain my full academic potential.

Summing Up:
I bring along a strong grasp of fundamentals in Computer Science and Engineering, and aptitude for research and teamwork, a zest for challenges and an enthusiastic desire to learn all I can. I would like to take with me, in addition to knowledge of Computers, a network of strong and lasting relationships with my teachers and fellow-students. I hope that my background and qualifications are suitable for an MS in Computer Science and Engineering at your esteemed University with possible financial aid.
