Ahmad Nawaz GROUND BAIT / CHARAI (RECIPE) PREPARATION OF CHARAI POWDER BALCHAR (Muskroot), KAPUR KACHRI (Spiked ginger lily), NAGARMOTHA (Nut Grass), CHARILA (Stone Flower), SOYA SEEDS and JUR PAAN 50 grams each, JALWATRI (Mace), SANDAL BORADA (Santalum album) and KARFAS PAHARI (Marsh Parsley), 25 grams each, Rewand asara 30 grams, ABHAL (Juniper) 20 grams, METHI (Fenugreek) 100 grams and JAIFAL (Nutmeg) 5 pieces Grind and Mix all the above items in form of powder. PREPARATION OF GROUND BAIT Boil 250 gms Rice, Boil 1/4 kg dal moong, Half roast 1 kg yellow sarsoun ki khal so that it becomes light brownish, Then thoroughly Mix 100 grams uncooked sagodana & 2 to 2-1/2 table spoon charai powder into roasted khal, boil rice & dal moong to form ground bait. Comments of Mr. Mohammad Hassan Usmani Thanks for floating recipe of charai.I do not debate/challange any one's experience with this charai but have few comments to make. -First few items up to CHAREELA are o.k. -I see no need for soya seeds and jarpan -Now comes KHUSHBO part.So many things have been mentioned that it is like a person applying many scents at any one time.Immagin what will happen....? -I believe one of the items mentioned is good enough other wise it will act a as repallent to fish rather than attract. -When RAIWAND ASARA is used,there is no need for ABUL(hawoo bair).Their function is the same but Raiwand is much much better.Abul produces cramps which is not good for fish where as Raiwand is smooth. -No need to use any of the pulses(daal).Normally anglers use these in river fishing which is just a mith.I have done river fishing for many many years,never used such things and always been successful.Not only you save money but keep your charai and life simple.

Need less to mention that i have been using simple charai for almost 28 years after a great deal of research and find it quite good for almost entire carp family. PS:Pl use 15g of Karfus instead of 25g because it is so dominating that it would kill any scent,you may use. Many may debate which is not the objective what i mentioned above but i felt it was my moral obligation to share my experiance with you,all. Best of luck. Hassan Usmani Ahmad Nawaz GROUND BAIT (ANOTHER RECIPE) 1- Sarsu ki Khal 1/2 kg 2- Till ki khal 1/2 kg 3- Masoor Ki Dal, uncooked, 100 grams 4- Rice, Uncooked, 1/2 kg 5- Chooker, 50 grams Heat up/roast both Khals (1 & 2) in a pot, the moment you see little smoke is coming out, its done. Be careful do not burn it. Transfer it in another pot, cool it and mix item 3, 4 & 5. Then mix 250 grams each of Ulsi, Maytharay, Till (powder form). This dry base can be made in big quantity and stored for one season.When you are ready to go for fishing, boil two cup of rice and mix dry base in the boiled rice and add 2 table spoon of Khushboo in powder form (Nagar Motha or Kapoor Kachri or Bal charr). The ground bait is ready to use. Boil rice (half cooked(kuchay pukay)). while boiling add half of theiakri nishadra. Mix all above ingredients and rice at fishing spot by adding a little water. 1cup with 1kg ov khal. with one kg ov khal n charra use 500gms ov boiled rice soft enough k dey easily makes da dry dough when mixed with effort plus 250 grams ov Laal mitti aur chiknee mitti. mitti mitti ho rait na ho. mix it all up make it firm use some dam water if required bul k make it happen k one uses the dam water in it to make it firm. jb tk charay ko thoraa saa pani nahi lugay ga proper smell create nahi ho ge. and about the so cald chemical jst take out sm frm da charra put in Shakkar and a bit ov honey u can use banana with it aswell mix it up properly make all ov it AIK JAAN :P and about the soda part let the elders tell us. using soda in da chemical is must it makes it Khameera n will make every component bond with each other as told by a close friend Qaiser Farooq like used in Pizza n all to make da dough firm. whn der x dough der x bait. mix it wd diffrent things like boiled Atta take equal amounts and mix it n mix it until it x firm and mix diffrent thngs whch r logical and makes sense. so here it x da hu hu ha ha chemical :P and remember mixn da Chaara also x an art so practice makes man perfect and even the girl too. plus this chaara will cost one at around rs 2500 and u can use it all year :) enjoy. i personally use this have 4 more bt ths one x da best yet. n of course the smell wil tell hehehehehe baki neyaat, mehnat, akul aur naseeb ab koi weather forecast dekh k bhi aandhi tofaan mei ja k beth jaye meri tarah tu machli kya khaak lugay ge :D plus chemical mei Dallaya b use kuray aur charayy mei bhi agar dil kuraay its a killer. Charra bht door na phainkay casting length ki half length tk chaara kurain aur aik jaga kurain plus weight chara x a must must must must must must must must. whether its noon mornin evnin raat jb bhi weight chaara x a must. weight charaaa hard ho ta k fish dnt get the charra to eat frm da casting length..... Comments of Mr. Farrukh Khan I have jz read all the comments. one thing i want to mention in above comments is about Metha soda. I have heard from lot of senior anglers that metha soda should not be used in bait or charai bcoz "Machli kanta chor deti hai pani se nikalney k bad" Means fish gets rotten. So i recommend Meetha soda should not be used. Few years back there was no concept that Mixed Flour Or Chemical was used on Hooks. Only Chilwa or earthworms were used. Reason for using Chemical or Mixed atta is increasing breed of Talapia. Talapia does not allow earthwom hooks to settle at bottom for few seconds. And one more thing "Raiwand asara" mentioned in above Formula's is not being recommended by senior anglers. One spoon "Magnesia Salt" in Mixed charai is being used as alternate for Raiwand asara. and same is used for emptying the fish stomach. Mr. Jawad Gul GROUND BAIT (ANOTHER RECIPE) Cloves ( urdu name Laung ) and Carom seed ( urdu name Ajwain ) works good in cold waters for carp. It worth trying, it works for me. take equal in weight, roast them separately in nonstick and grind them and use in your charai powder. Equal weight of every single herb's weight. If you made formula of 100 grams each then it should be 100 grams too.

HOOK BAIT RECIPES Mr. Hasan Dar (HOOK BAIT RECIPE) Normal wheat flour roti. slightly pukki hovi.(kuchi pukki c). then apply GHEE on it. then cut it in small square pieces ( 1 x 1 inch) and then in pieces ko hook pay one by one kur k lugana hay. almost 6 to 7 pieces lugtay hain on one hook Mr. Qaiser Farooq (HOOK BAIT ANOTHER RECIPE) A very gud formula (bait) for china (common) carp is . take 1 kg all wheat flour,half kg white maize flour, 250 grams of suji and half kg brown sugar. Mix all and make solid dough,put it on the hooks and enjoy..:) another one is , take 4 number chicken feed, and add equal amount of white flour to it and use it. Mr. Hassan Raza (HOOK BAIT ANOTHER RECIPE) for carp my mostly used and most effective bait is 6 item chara (wheat floor, corn floor , shakkar, 4 number chicken feed , chokar and sori dana) take equal amount nad mix them wid water add more wheat floor for stickness u can also use bread crumbs in (wheat floor, corn floor , shakkar, 4 number chicken feed , chokar and sori dana) and sheera and u can also use wheat dallia , joo ka dallia and khall badam and any thing sweet u want to add for carp you can also use bread with sheera mix them both and them use them as bait its good for common carp only u can also use gulqand along wid wheat flour and corn floor and chicken feed mix them equal amounts then add only wheat flour to make bait stick another bait we use mostly for catla. 00 garms chana powder ( bhonay hovay chanay ka 5 powder)- 100 grams rice powder -100 garms sugar powder -25 say 30 alachi powder kar k- bread crums 100 grams- peanut oil for roast and then after roast mix them in sheera used for jalabii. this is mostly used for catla in india too

Mr. Mzm Khan (HOOK BAIT ANOTHER RECIPE)

Mauvaa (its a fruit also used to make intoxicant) easily available in India. take some put it in a bottle fill it up wd double the amount ov water half tea spoon metha sooda and add some Kaala Gurd. shake it wel n let it do da magic in da dark for least a month or so keep shaking da bottle once in three days or so. it will form in to a thick liquid. use it wd any kind ov dough bait. second jst the kaala gurd do the same wd it, thick sheera wil form for the dough bait. no soda fr da gurd sheera. both ov the sheera's will be rich in smell so use it wisely dnt let the chaara loose its own smell bt make it work with the chaara n chemical. make da water boil accordingly put shakaar mix it quick then put fine atta mix it quick take it off make a firm dough usin more atta if required. best for common carp in winter. Chachaa Maskeen ka killer Bait for China. v r using Shakkar which wont let da atta harden in any way.m nt sayin to keep on cookin. add enough atta k one cant see any water keep mixn it n u will get the firm and soft dough. Mr. Babar Saeed (HOOK BAIT ANOTHER RECIPE) Almond Khal, white till khal and gulqand in equal quantity,make firni by adding 3 to 4 tea spoon grand rice in one cup of milk and mash all items like atta.
