Yoga has been one of the biggest names in health and fitness. A lot of people who wish to avoid the rigorous and physically-demanding forms of fitness routines could go for this calm and slow-paced fitness workout routine. The word yoga originated from an ancient Indian dialect which means union between the mind, body and spirit. Yoga was designed to give more focus on the mind and at the same time promoting spiritual health. Slow stretching movements help improve overall balance and strength while relaxing the mind, more like a massage. The different positions also give emphasis to certain parts of the body and even internal organs. Previous studies on alleviating chronic back pain examine the potentials of yoga as a noninvasive alternative treatment to surgery and pain killers. A research conducted in Honolulu, Hawaii, headed by Dr. Suzan Holtzman, looked into the effects of yoga on back pain. The study had varying results, but proved yoga had its positive effects. The researchers concluded that yoga exercises had a more holistic approach which means yoga provided positive effects without directly improving the physical conditions of the patients or curing the root cause. This was evident by the improved overall behavior of the respondents. They all had a calmer and more relaxed state of mind. The participants, as expected, also had more balance and control over their posture. But most importantly, yoga had a neurological effect by actually altering certain brain processes to help alleviate pain and correct the current condition, to some extent. It would be important to note that chronic back pain does not only have a lot of potential hidden problems, but its also a very hard problem to treat, especially for older people and those with congenital problems and bone disease. Different health care experts focusing on holistic health like chiropractors, osteopath CBD practitioners and even unconventional providers like acupuncturists are also being considered as alternative treatment options for chronic back pain. However, most experts would advise undergoing standard physical checkups prior to any treatment regimens. This would help discard the possibilities of serious underlying physical conditions that could potentially be lifethreatening once aggravated.

Yoga and other physical routines may not actually offer a definitive treatment to chronic back pain and any other physical condition for that matter, but the fact that they show positive results, not just physically but in terms of the way they think and feel, means a lot to both the researchers and the patients.

By Saturday, July 7, 2012, citizens of Libya are going to experience one of the many facets of democracy: the right to vote. Muammar Gaddafis autocratic reign for forty years left Libyans with no choice in this matter. The voters are given the right to select an assembly of 200 members who will choose a cabinet. This cabinet will replace the selfappointed interim government. A new prime minister will also be picked. Of the 3700 candidates vying for a spot, most have very strong Islamic agendas. The chamber is tasked to compose a committee who will be responsible in drafting the countrys new constitution. This election will be closely monitored by the entire world. 2.7 million registered voters will take a stand, having their very taste of democracy. But many are afraid that extremists might interfere, causing havoc. Tarek Mabrouk, a citizen who maintains a shop in Tripoli says: This is a new beginning for us, we are learning democracy. We all hope that it will go well so we can move forward. A referendum will take place after the drafting of the constitution. If all goes well and a parliamentary system has been established, a full legislative poll will take place within half a years time. There are some worries about the credibility and outcome of the result. Many are wary about what might transpire after the post-vote disputes.
