Woodruff Church of God e-Edition Newsletter July 17, 2012

Pastors Notes: If you havent been here in awhile, YOU ARE MISSING IT!!!!! There is a Spirit of anticipation and expectancy in the atmosphere. God is honoring His Word that was spoken during the week of Camp Meeting. The Word of the Lord said that there would be baskets of fruit that would never end and there would be blessings on our church.and our families. GLORY TO GOD!!!!! Those baskets of fruits, to me, represent the harvest. I truly believe that God has spoken that He was going to give us a harvest. BUT.we must reap it!!!! So for the last two weeks, weve gone out on Monday nights and prayed through our harvest. Last week, we prayed through the East side of Woodruff. This week, we prayed over the West side of Woodruff and ended up around our new property. We have been praying down the walls and praying for God to loose His Spirit and soften hearts so that when we get to them, they will respond in a positive way to the gospel of Christ. This coming Saturday, well begin phase two of this process by having a training session for our Saturday SURGE!!!!! If you have not signed up, you still have time. We are going after 3 specific groups first: 1) Backsliders, 2) The Lukewarm, 3) The Hispanic. This does not mean that we arent going after the lost or not going to knock on doors we dont know. Were simply starting with these 3 groups first and will branch out. PLEASE.if you signed up, meet us this Saturday at 10:00 AM in the CLC Dining Room. Coffee, juice and pastries will be served. BIBLE SCHOOL is now in full swing. I want to thank Donna & Garren Burdette and all their staff of workers for the excellent job they are doing. The staging is AWESOME!!!! If you have not been in the CLC, you must see it!!!!! Pictures do not do justice to the great job of decorating, building, as well as crafts and all the other things that they have lined out for the kids. The Kids Kafe is doing a GREAT JOB serving food..Special thanks to EVERYONE!

There will be a BIBLE SCHOOL COMMENCEMENT this Sunday night at 6:00 PM. This service will be held in the CLC so that we can experience everything that the kids did during the week. Thank you for making this a special time for the kids and their parents. Lets pray that some parent will be so moved by all they see and hear that they will come to faith in Jesus!!!!! Also be in prayer for our Jamaican Missions Team that will be leaving on July 28. Im so excited for the ones going as I know this is truly LIFE CHANGING!!!! Im also excited for the ones that will receive the ministry from our team. Please pray that lives will be touched and souls will be saved. Pray for safe travels and for the protection of the Lord to rest upon them all! Just a few more weeks to help us with this. The Woodruff Ministerial Association and area churches are working together on a project to aid District 4 students and parents with school supplies for next school year. This project is called GREAT START WOODRUFF. District 4 is allowing us to hold this event on their campus but in doing so, we must provide for all students. This is a mammoth undertaking, yet God has already begun working miracles. 2000 back packs have been donated to this cause!!!!! Several church are put together to work on a few of the items. Our items are: 1) 1,900 packs of #2 pencils, 2) 875 pencil sharpeners with covers, 3) 300 pencil pouches with 3 holes, 4) 500 pens (blue/black). Ive asked our ministries to be involved but I want you to be involved as well. There will be a box in the lobby for you to place your items in. Together, we can make this event a huge success. On that day, there will be free haircuts given, a prayer tent to provide prayer for any person or family that wants prayer. Each book bag will also have a copy of the Word of God in it. This is a huge opportunity for our churches in Woodruff to impact our community. Please help us in this endeavor!!! Thank You!!! WE NEED VOLUNTEERS : 1. Wednesday, August 1st from 6:30 8:30, the book bags will be put together. If you would like to be part of that, meet at West End Baptist Church at 6:30 PM. 2. Friday morning beginning at 9:00 AM, all the book bags will be moved from West End Baptist Church to the Activity Center (between the Primary School and Elementary School). 3. Saturday morning, there is a little set up and preparation at 7:00 AM the Great Start Woodruff will begin at 8:00 AM and go until 12:00 PM. If you would like to be part of any of these activities, please sign the little sheet we have here and give it to Pastor Terry or one of our staff. Thank you in advance for helping us get into the community and make an impact in our town.

Please be in prayer for the Church of God General Assembly to be held next week in Orlando Florida. Pray for Gods will to be done and for the Church of God to move forward for the glory of God!!!!!

Great Start Woodruff

Our community-wide school supply giveaway is only a few weeks away, and you can be a great blessing to families here in District 4. Heres how you can help:
On Friday, August 3rd, beginning at 9 am, we will need everyone who is available (with vehicle) to transport the school supplies from West End Baptist Church to the District 4 Activities Center (next to the Elementary School), and then set up the Activities Center for Great Start. On Saturday, August 4th, there are a variety of ways you can be involved (see below). In addition to giving away school supplies, we will also have a prayer table set up, and if you are comfortable sharing your faith, there will be opportunities for that as well.

To help us know how many people can volunteer, please fill out the bottom portion of this page and return it to your pastor or ministry coordinator. Place your name (and other family members names) in the space provided.

IT'S JOY TIME: On Thursday, July 26 the JOY CLUB will have our ONLY SUMMER meeting at 6:30 at the Christian Life Center. Our Team Leaders for this month are Jeanette Bragg and Bobby Brown along with all of their support staff. This is going to be an outstanding time of fellowship and fun, so make your plans now to be in attendance. The sign-up sheet is on the SAM Bulletin Board located in the main hallway off the lobby. Please make sure you sign up this week. The sign-up sheet for food is also located at the same place. Can you handle some JOY? If so, meet us Thursday July 26 at 6:30 PM. B..E.....T..H...E..R..E!!

Ladies sign-up for THE RESOLUTION FOR WOMEN. This is for all ladies--single, married, Mothers, Grandmothers and Aunts. We will begin in August and finish in December. There will be 1 Tuesday meeting per month and 1-2 Monday make-ups per month. We will have our ceremony with the men in January. Sign-up on the Ladies Bulletin board. Class Dates: Make-up Sessions: August 14 - First class Location TBA August 20 September 11 September 17 October 9 October 15 November 6 November 12 November 13 November 19 We are collecting the small hotel toiletry items. Bring in the shampoo, conditioner, soap, and lotion from your vacations. A box will be located in the cloak room for these items. NO LARGE ITEMS PLEASE. These will be sent to pastors homes in Honduras later. Thank you. Toy Closet---- It's time again to begin stocking our Toy Closet so we can provide Christmas for needy children. Last year we gave away over 30 boxes of toys. A list of toys needed will be placed on the Ladies Bulletin Board.

August 2 Monthly Band of Brothers meeting at 6:00 in the CLC dining room. Come join us for this time of fellowship, food, and devotion. If you have not been meeting with us, this is a great time to start. August 11 Iron Sharpens Iron Conference at Covenant United Methodist Church in Greer from 8;30 4:55. Standard registration cost is $39. Full time student registration is $29. For every standard registration you can bring up to 2 sons or mentorees for free. Cost for lunch is $7.00 and is optional. Some of the men from our church will also be singing. There will be a sign up sheet on the bulletin board in the hall. August 24 Greenville Drive baseball game. This is open to your whole family. Sign up on the sheet on the bulletin board in the hall. September 15 Daddy/Daughter date night. Tickets will go on sale soon. Look for more details in the coming weeks! Men of Resolution - Below are the dates for the next Men of Resolution meetings. We will do another Resolution Ceremony in January. Together we study what Gods word says about being a godly father and husband. If you have not signed up yet , do it soon. The sessions will meet on Saturday mornings at 9:00 in the CLC dining room. Makeup sessions will be Sunday afternoons at 4:00 in the CLC dining room. You must attend all 5 sessions (or the makeup) in order to participate in the Resolution Ceremony. Saturday August 25th we will be going whitewater rafting down the Natahala River in NC. The cost per person is $25-$32 per person and will need to be paid by August 12th. There is a signup sheet in the hallway at church along with a waiver that will need to be filled out. The church van will leave the church at 8am and return around 7pm. Saturday September 8th we will have a cookout at Clint & Ramona's in Enoree. The time is after 4:00 and the cost will be $5 per person. There is a sign-up sheet in the hallway at church. If you are 25-49 please come and enjoy fun and fellowship with fellow Christians.

We just want to say THANK YOU for all of your support for Jamaican Missions 2012. We just have a small percentage left to raise. This year we will be constructing a handicapped restroom for Jody'ann Anson, conducting a VBS for the children of Bannister, visiting a nursing home, as well as, being involved in a Nightly Crusade (Revival). We are looking forward to ministering in Bannister again this year. If you still have envelopes out that you took as a pledge, please try and get those back in by July 22. Again, Thank You for your support. You are the Best congregation!

Awesome start to VBS. Monday night we had 152 Kidz,68 workers,6 salvations. God is Awesome. We would like to invite all of you to commencment Sunday Night at 6:00 pm in the CLC. We will share with you some of what went on this week, You will get to meet some of our silly characters and puppets. You will also learn about Gods awesome power.Then we will have an ice cream social and you just might get to see Ms Donna and Mr Garren turned into an ice cream Sunday if the kidz meet their goal of 1000 cans. No Praise & Worship Practice this Sunday, July 22nd. Extreme Kidz Fundraiser: Please continue to save your aluminum cans for the Extreme Kidz. We will use this money on upcoming events. WEIGH TO GO is a Christian Weight Loss Support group. WEIGH TO GO is a place where we as Christians come together to encourage each other and to explore what GOD and His word says about weight loss and weight related issues. Our bodies are sanctuaries and temples of GOD and we should treat them accordingly. WEIGH TO GO is open to all diets, eating disorders, and food addictions. So come and join us in this life changing journey. WEIGH TO GO meets every Tuesday at 6pm for optional weigh in and meeting to follow at 6:30pm. We meet in the classrooms underneath the main sanctuary. The entrance to the classrooms is located in the alley between the main church and youth building. So come and join us in our journey to improve our health and GOD'S Holy temples. HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!!
