Role and Responsibilities of a Researcher.

There are many different kinds of researchers there are researchers on various fields of study like natural science, physical, medical, product, entertainment just to name a few. Researchers of whatever field generally are involved with the process of finding and getting information through a variety of means and media. They should have a nose for news and a keen sense to identify a good material and source for the research. They should also possess all the qualities that make a good researcher patience and perseverance, integrity and honesty such qualities will help them in carrying the research they have to deal with.

In the past we have been taught the basic responsibilities of a researcher are

Collection data that needed for research process Arrangement of data that collected Analysis and interpretation of data

But in fact the role and responsibilities of a professional researcher as plenty and they are as follows.
The study complies with legal and ethical requirements. Primary responsibility for the design, management, conduct, analyses and reporting of the study to the standards set out in the Research Governance Framework1, or manages those with delegated authority for these aspects. Responsibility for co-ordinating the investigators who take the lead at each site involved in the study. Responsibility for ensuring that research is conducted to an agreed protocol (or proposal); accountability for this is to the chief investigators employer and through them, to the sponsor of the research. Chief Executive (or those with delegated authority to ensure the implementation of the Research Governance Framework) is informed that the study is planned and their permission is obtained before the research starts. This is done through completion of the registration form and submission to the Research Governance Committee. The research is conducted to high ethical standards, following independent external review wherever possible The study is conducted according to a written protocol. The investigator will be fully conversant with the details of the study protocol and the drugs, devices and procedures used in the study, and are satisfied that the objectives of the study are appropriate and the methods used are valid. Delegation of duties and responsibilities is formally recorded and reported.

New researchers have adequate supervision, support and training. Procedures are in place to ensure collection of high quality, accurate data and the integrity and confidentiality of data during processing and storage. Arrangements are made for the appropriate archiving of data when the research has finished. Reports on the progress and outcomes of the work required by sponsors, funders, Research Governance Committee and LREC are produced to time and to an acceptable standard The investigator plays a key role in detecting and preventing scientific misconduct by adopting the role of guarantor on published outputs.

Source of data - Give adequate data to researcher that helps to complete the research - Respondents are a part of primary data who give direct data to researcher in the form of answers to the questions that asked by the researcher. Respondents will respond to the questionnaire and the researcher collects the data from the response that is given by the respondents. Survey error reducer - Take precautions to reduce the error that may happen during survey response. - There are two types of errors. Response bias: - Respondents answer questions in the way they think the questioner wants them to answer rather than according to their true beliefs.
