1. Live Project Policy Live Project is an integral part of the two-year full-time PG Program curriculum. The credits associated with Live Project Program are to a maximum of 2 full credits . The duration of Live Project Program is given by the company that comes up with it. Students are expected to fulfill the requirements of the Live Project Program and are evaluated on specified parameters. Students are expected to behave in a manner that maintains and enhances the prestige of IILM while following the rules and regulations of the organization where they are undergoing the live project.

Why a Live Project? Students are encouraged to undertake live projects to gain that critical industry experience which they may not possess especially if they do not have any work experience. The following employability skills and attributes are expected to be enhanced while undertaking live projects. A perceptible improvement is expected in the student in the following areas: Problem identification and solving Selection & application of research tools Identification of strategies Critical evaluation of evidence Application of theory to practice Managing project deadlines Corporate communication Professional behaviour Time management and organisational skills Report writing for business Oral presentation Teamwork

2. OBJECTIVES OF LIVE PROJECT Live projects provide a hands-on experience of the marketing, financial, human resource and various organizational aspects of a company. Aim of students going in for live projects would be: To integrate academic and prior experiential knowledge with that of personal development and employability skills To develop and apply problem solving, decision -making, reflective and team working skills in a real life organizational setting.

In addition to the above, for the organization, Live Projects are opportunities to tackle problems for which industry might not have time or resources; have an access to management technology; contribute to the education industry and in some cases encourage faculty development.

Live Project can be broadly classified into three phases(i) Orientation about the Company, (ii) Work as assigned by the company (iii) Live Project Report submission, presentation/viva.

2.1 Orientation about the Company During this period, the student will understand the company, its customers and the competitors. He/ She will study the annual reports of the company for the past couple of years, understand the policies of the company, study the macro-environment in which the industry is operating. By the end of this, the Student should be able to clearly state his/her business objectives which would include specific and measurable targets to be achieved , break-up of targets, synopsis for the Live Project Report, etc. 2.2 Actual work assigned by the company During this period, the Student may be assigned specific tasks by the organizations.This would give a flavor of teamwork, organizational culture, team dynamics, result orientation, organizational pressures, complexities in achieving the desired results, etc. A student should take this as a learning experience and be ambitious of achieving the desired targets or accomplishing the required tasks, through professionalism and business acumen. On-Job Training provides good scope for developing necessary managerial skills and positive attitude. 2.3 Live Project Report Each student will undertake project/research work during the period of Live Project leading to Live Project Report. A student would be assigned a specific project/research work involving project/research design, designing &/or filling of questionnaires, application of sampling techniques, administering the survey, tabulation of data, application of statistical/managerial tools for analysis of data and drawing inferences/testing hypothesis thereof and finally culminating in the preparation of a detailed Live Project Report. A good Live Project report, providing value to the corporate may be the trigger for a better placement opportunity. 2.4 Expectations from a Student working on a live project Behave as a quasi-employee of the organization. Follow all the rules, regulations and codes of conduct of the organization. Strictly follow the Live Project guidelines. Prepare Industry/Company profile as soon as possible after commencement of the Live Project and submit it to the Faculty Mentor. Have continuous interaction with the Faculty Mentor, Business Engagement head / Placement Manager and the Company Mentor.

Report constraints if any, to the Faculty Mentor without delay. Submit regular progress report to the Faculty Mentor. During this period a student should build rapport with the industry mentor and other employees .

2.5 Expectations and Benefits for the company: Companies are expected to define the project they intend to give to students objectively and clearly. Scope, time and tenure of work should be specifically defined. Benefits for the company would come in form of gain of a useful project- resource and a fresh perspective from a young pair of eyes .At the same time company can try the students and access their competence as prospective employees. 2.7 Documentation and Presentation of the Final Report The final report contains information about company and the project undertaken during the project duration. The format for project report would be: Cover page (Format of cover page is in Annexure I) Certificate of Live Project Acknowledgement (approx. 250 words) Contents Executive Summary (approx. 500 words)

Objective (200 300 words) Company profile (approx. 1000 words); to include and highlight objective of the project (approx. 300 words); Working methodology (research/study/field job) (approx. 500 words) Analysis (charts, diagrams if required) (approx. 2000 words) Recommendations/suggestions (approx. 500 words) Limitations of the project (approx. 200 words) Learning (approx. 1000 words) References The report should be of 4000-6000 words with graphs and charts. A student needs to submit the project report in the following manner: 1 soft copy each for company and faculty mentor The text material should be typed with one and a half spacing between the lines. Twelve point font size is to be used in Times New Roman fonts. Beginning with the first page of Chapter 1/Section 1, pages are to be numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals. Small Roman numerals should be used for all preceding pages, with the exception of the title page which is unnumbered. Allow yourself adequate time to go through the manuscript word by word, line by line and page by page, ensuring that all typographical and other errors are removed. Examiners are going to check references and quotations to see whether they are accurate. When you are satisfied that all the necessary revision has been completed and the project report is ready for submission, you should sign a declaration that the work is original and it is ready for examination. The declaration needs to be a part of your project submission.

3. STUDENTS - IN THE ORGANIZATION 3.1 Attendance Policy A student is expected to be available as per the live project requirement. If any Student is not in a position to attend on any day during Live Project, he/she shall obtain prior approval of leave from Company Mentor and Faculty Mentor. Absence without prior approval of leave will be viewed seriously and may lead to termination of Live Project. Absolute attendance is a symbol of dedication and commitment of a Student. Analysis of the previous Live Project experiences proves that those with good attendance record performed better during Live Project and secured better placement offers.

3.2 Conduct of Students The Students must bear in mind that they are the ambassadors of IILM and conduct themselves in the manner befitting the IILM standards. IILM expects the Students to maintain high professional and social standards. The students should conform to the rules and regulations of his/her place of work. It is particularly important to be regular, punctual, obedient, honest and sincere at work. Unprofessional behavior, dishonesty, misconduct, indiscipline, irregularity at work and unsatisfactory performance will lead to cancellation of studentship of the student. Do's and Don'ts for Students during Live Project Do's: Students should Get an overview of the Company/Industry in which they are placed. This includes understanding the core business of the company, organizational chart, key personnel in the company, manufacturing units, marketing channels, financial policies, etc. Make an analysis of the company vis--vis the industry and prepare SWOT analysis. Always maintain formal dress code. Always be polite in dealings and maintain cordial relationship with the Company Executives. Always be positive and open to suggestions. Maintain strict confidentiality of company information. Consult Faculty Mentor or refer textbooks to reinforce relevant concepts. Always submit bills in time when reimbursement is to be claimed. Get conversant with company policies/rules before incurring expenditure. Focus on assignment and complete the individual tasks allotted on schedule.

Don'ts: Students should not Criticize the company policies and/or Company Executives. Criticize or make adverse comments about IILM and/or Faculty Mentor. Misuse the facilities offered by the company. Go to meetings and presentations unprepared or ill-prepared. Be late. Leave the office without prior permission from the Company Mentor. Be impolite or rude to Company Executives. Exceed the work given by the Company Mentor and collect information that is confidential in nature. Hold back any material/equipment/accessories provided by the company on a returnable basis. Interfere in third party assignments. Encourage friends visiting workplace during office hours and cause inconvenience to others.

4. ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITES 4.1 Faculty Mentor The role of the Faculty Mentor is to facilitate the Student to undertake a meaningful On-Job Training and Live Project Report, to provide necessary operational and academic guidance and to facilitate evaluation, with the help of the Company Mentor while the Live Project is in progress and when completed. The Faculty Mentor would be involved at all stages of Live Project. Expectations from Faculty Mentor Prepare the students for Live Project Familiarize Students with evaluation process, parameters and schedules. Guide/facilitate students in achieving the targets/tasks as assigned by the Live Project Company and tracking their performance on a regular basis. Evaluate the mentees performance and the project.

It will be highly appreciable that the Faculty Mentor takes the initiative to hold discussions with the Company Mentor along with the Students. This would help the Faculty Mentor to assess the student's progress in his/her respective project, the quality and the quantity of work put in by the Students. These discussions would also help the Faculty Mentor to judge the behavior of the Students in the company, and the relationship the Students maintain with the other executives/staff of the company. They are expected to maintain the Progress report as in Annexure III.

4.2 Business Engagement & Placement Team Business Engagement & Placement Team is responsible for timely generation of Live Project. They will be responsible for Liaising with the corporate and maintaining good relationship with the concerned Company Mentors in the Live Project organization. Ensuring conduct of orientation for the student students at the Live Project Company during the initial days. Obtaining feedback from the company on the performance of the Students.

4.3 Company Mentor The Student is expected to be assigned a project on a theme relevant to the needs of the organization and possibly of the student. Induction to make the trainees familiar with the hierarchy of the organization Training work related training, field training, data collection training and presentation of report Target sets target to make trainees complete their report in time. Assessment of target achieved and providing the feedback. Keeping in touch with the Faculty Mentor.

5. LIVE PROJECT ASSESSMENT Live project is equivalent to credits as decided by the academic committee and therefore the evaluation of Live project is critical to the students overall performance. The various stages of evaluation and weightage at each stage are given below:

DETAILS OF ASSESSMENT PLAN


Each component is of 50 marks in case the live project is of 2 full credits Each component is of 25 marks in case the live project is of 1 full credit.

1.Mentor Mentee Constant Interaction


The total marks will be allotted on the basis of: 1. High commitment to learning showcased by the student 2. Preparation of industry/company profile after commencement of the live project and submitting the same to the Faculty Mentor 3. Regular interaction of the mentee with the mentor by email/phone/ face-to-face meeting. 4. Progress Reports - Minimum 2 progress reports should be submitted to the faculty mentor during the project is on. 2.Live project report

The grading will be done by the mentor as per the format Annexure IV. 3.Final Viva and Presentation It will comprise of the presentation given by the mentee to a panel. 4.Feedback forms submitted by Industry Mentors On the basis of the feedback given by the industry mentors at the end of the project Tenure The industry mentor may judge the student on Completion of the project Field Work Quality : Depth, Content & Analytical Ability Presentation Clarity, preciseness & Communication Implementation Initiative & Drive Logical / Analytical Ability

All waivers will be applicable only after Certificate of successful completion of live project from organization is received along with their academic and feedback report.
