Amber Adgerson Professor Mathis EDU 745 July 27th, 2012 Class Profile, Change Narrative, and Outcomes

Narrative Class Profile To be completed Fall 2012 using the SMART survey, based on Howard Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences, the Learning Styles Inventory, based on the Dunn & Dunn Model, and the Personality Questionnaire for Kids, based on Carl Jung's Personality Theory.

Change narrative I feel learning about the learning styles, multiple intelligences, and personality traits will be very useful for me in the coming school years. This semester in EDU 745, I am glad I was able to reflect on these concepts. I look forward to implementing three different inventories to assess and create instructional plans based on my students' specific needs in these areas. My classroom culture, student interaction, and student achievement will depend upon it. Next year, I will allow my students to learn to their strengths, so they can have even more confidence in those areas. Also, I want my students to know their weaknesses, so they can understand more work will be needed in those areas. I will let them know about my weakness, and what steps I had to do to overcome those barriers. I dont want my students to question themselves and what they could have been at the end of their educational career. I want them to be successful in their journey and hope they feel their strengths were used to the best of their ability without the hindrance of their weaknesses. There are many different inventories for personality types, learning styles, and multiple intelligences. Now that I am aware of them, I plan on finding the ones that I feel are the most valid and easiest to implement in the classroom. I plan to have students split into groups according to their learning styles, multiple intelligences, and personality traits throughout the year. I will use what activities and strategies I have learned throughout the semester to provide appropriate activities for each group.

Outcomes Narrative I expect many changes to occur from administering the inventories and using the information from them to differentiate. I predict many more students will become engaged in learning. I also feel students will gain more confidence when given an opportunity to showcase their strengths. I also would expect to see gains for these students on assessments given in class, as well as, MAP and PASS standardized tests. Most importantly, I look forward to impacting the emotional well-being of my divergent and global learners by giving them self-confidence and the understanding that it's okay to learn differently from others.
