HARVEST BAPTIST CHURCH PRAYER DIARY

MONDAYEVANGELISTIC PRAYER Chronological Bible Reading: Psalm 55-57; Romans 11 Monday, July 30 Ezek. 36:37 Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will yet for this be inquired of by the house of Israel, to do it for them; I will increase them with men like a flock. Heavenly Father: My soul waits on you because my all expectations are in you. I ask for things from your hand, because then all will know you are Lord. Stir me up as a believer to pray for the lost, because I will always have hard times if I am not involved doing what all the redeemed ought to be doing. The whole house of Israel has to besiege this city if our city is to be taken. I plead your promises, Lord. I inquire, just like the house of Israel of old, that you would increase us with men like a flock. I offer you thanks for making it easy to draw near to you. I offer you thanks for the multitude of people you call me to the mercy seat to pray for, like __________ and __________. I askI seekI knock. Necessity drives me to you. With my pride biting the curb and my face in the dust, I knock loudly for your blessing. Deny me not an audience in prayer. Give me the spirit of grace and of supplications. I have received many unasked-for favors, but Lord, give me more grace! Visit us with your Spirit and multiply us like the holy flock of Jerusalem during their sacred feasts. Make us as numerous as she. Make us an unblemished flock. Make us consecrated to God, because we have been brought to Christ for the purpose of being sacrificed. Give our church self-sacrificing members who do not just come to attend but to attempt. I give myself first to the Lord, and afterwards to the pastors for ministry, by the will of God. I need to know my spiritual giftedness. I need to know where to be deployed. All this I will get because I ask for it, so how foolish I am not to pray more! Give me this because of Jesus merit and for your kingdom. Amen. A DAILY PATTERN FOR PRAYER & BIBLE READING Chronological Bible Reading: Psalm 64-66; Romans 14 Thursday, August 2 Josh. 1:9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. TUESDAYFOCUS ON CHRISTS LIFE Chronological Bible Reading: Psalm 58-60; Romans 12 Tuesday, July 31 John 6:9 There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many? Gracious God and Father: As hungry as hunters; how many people do I know just like that! There is a famine in the land for Bible teaching, and they are parched. Sometimes Lord, I feel like all I can personally offer them is five crackers and a couple of anchovies. Their needs seem so unequal to my abilities. Millions of people in Kansas City, and only a handful of whole-hearted Bible-believing Christians. So few preachers breaking the bread of life to them. Lord Jesus, you are equal to the emergency! No one need go out of this life without sharing in your bounty, because it is not up to me to feed them, but up to you. And now that you have ascended and sent us the Holy Spirit, you have more (and we have more) powernot less. I have faith in you Lord, and in the Holy Ghost. You will never desert people who are in spiritual need any more than you failed this hungry throng. You never send us a need without already having the supply on hand. How I wish I would remember that, and not distrust your providence! Psa. 107:43 Whoso is wise, and will observe these things, even they shall understand the lovingkindness of the LORD. I have felt your special providence, Lord. I have met with your hand in my life, in my job, and in my home. Every day I am surrounded with signs of your care. How often do you draw-near to me in the everyday events of my life? Do not desert me, Lord. Lead us as a church. Do not let us lack leaders when we need them, and do not allow me to shirk back from becoming one! I must never despair of your providence, for there is a lad here. Amen. FRIDAY CORPORATE PRAYER MINISTRY Chronological Bible Reading: Psalm 67-69; Romans 15 Friday, August 3 Phil. 1:27 Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: Lord to Whom We Give Control: You have proven your love by the gift of your Son, and you have lighted our church by the radiance of your Word. We give you thanks for these your greatest gifts: your incarnate Word and your inscripturated Word. Lord, help us consider the pattern of Jesus life and the principles of your Book. You have shown us his days and given us a record of his deeds, You have recorded words he spoke for our guidance and help, You have shown his obedience unto death and his triumph over the grave, And you have confirmed the presence of his Spirit within your children. Now to be Christlike, I must be like Christ! Help the remembrance of your Word to remain with us today in every responsibility, common task and endeavor. Above all let us remember especially, His eagerness not to be ministered unto, but to minister His sympathy with the suffering, but his bravery in the face of ridicule His meekness so that, being reviled, he reviled not again His steadiness of purpose in sticking to the task His simplicity, self-discipline, serene spirit, and complete reliance on you In each of these ways give us grace to follow in his footsteps. We need you more as a church. We need our focus to be you, Jesus! We need our central core to be our communion with you through the Spirit and the scriptures. Almighty God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, we commit our way unto you. We give our day unto you. We pledge our lives unto you. May this day be a day of obedience and love, and a day we can bring the gospel to others. So we ask it all in Jesus name because he is worthy. Amen. WEDNESDAYREVIVAL PRAYING Chronological Bible Reading: Psalm 61-63; Romans 13 Wednesday, August 1 Zeph. 3:18 I will gather them that are sorrowful for the solemn assembly, who are of thee, to whom the reproach of it was a burden. Oh Lord: The solemn assemblies of Israel were her glory. Her great days of feast and sacrifice were the highlights of the year. To the faithful, the holy days were holidays. But a reproach had fallen, and I believe this is a message for the present time, even our own season of transition. OH LORD, the brilliance of the gospel is dimmed by false cults. OH LORD, a lifeless indifference and lack of spiritual power creep across the church. Our present period of church history is well-pictured by the congregation at Laodicea. It was neither hot nor cold, and therefore about to be spewed out of Christs mouth. She gloried she was rich and increased with goods, and had no pressing needs. But all the while she was wretched, poor, blind and naked in your sight. Saddest of all, you were outside, knocking to get in! OH LORD, conformity to the world is the outcome of our commercialism. BUT LORD, there are some to whom this reproach is a burden for revival! We are pressed in spirit at bearing this cross. We are counting reproach with Christ to be a greater treasure than all the riches we lost in the stock market. I lay much blame to my own heart Lord, that truth is being rejected. Give me more of a burdened spirit, for that is a token of true love to you. If I love the Lord Jesus I will be wounded at his woundings. I will be vexed at the vexing of his righteous Spirit. That is the mark of a healthy sensitivity and true spirituality. Those who are unspiritual do not care for truth and grace first, but for accounts and numbers, and respectability. I would rather see the faithful persecuted than deserting the truth. Give us revival to the truth, Lord. Amen. SATURDAYIN THE PSALMS Chronological Bible Reading: Psalm 70-72; Romans 16 Saturday, August 4 Psa. 73:24 Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. Heavenly Father and Holy Lord: From day to day I am challenged to be in your word and receive counsel. I thank you Lord, for the accountability that others in our church provide me. I thank you for our preaching services and our Bible studies and our HomeTeams and our prayer meeting. My faith could not believe without receiving your wisdom, and I know when I trust your word I do not believe in vain. No verse has ever failed me; no statement has fallen to the ground without producing fruit. Isa. 55:10-11 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. I put myself into the Bibles hand for instruction and into the Spirits hand for guidance. I know not the way I should choose today. Lord, you choose it for me! I need your counsel because my duties are intricateat work and at home I need your counsel because my relationships are involvedat church and at work I need your counsel because my circumstances are complicated I seek to the High Priest therefore, and look into his Urim and Thummim. I seek the counselor of an infallible, absolute guidein preference to my peers advice, and in preference to my own judgmentfor every decision today. The old is just ending. The new is about to be here. Guide me for life as I get into your word, for I ask it in Jesus name. Amen.

I HEARD an old, old story, how a Savior came from glory

How He gave His life on Calvary to save a wretch like me I heard about His groaning, of His precious bloods atoning Then I repented of my sins and won the victory I heard about His healing, of His cleansing powr revealing How He made the lame to walk again and caused the blind to see And then I cried, Dear Jesus, come and heal my broken spirit And somehow Jesus came and brought to me the victory I heard about a mansion He has built for me in glory And I heard about the streets of gold, beyond the crystal sea About the angels singing and the old redemption story And some sweet day Ill sing up there the song of victory O victory in Jesus, my Savior, forever He sought me and bought me with His redeeming blood He loved me ere I knew Him, and all my love is due Him He plunged me to victory beneath the cleansing flood

3) 4) Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the same things over and over. This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you through the Bible chronologically in a year. Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying. Alan 5)

Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed. GIVE GOD THE FIRST PART OF EVERY DAY. The first commitment is to a daily quiet time with God. Our weekly Prayer Diary provides a template for daily devotions. 2) TITHEWORK

INSTRUCTIONS:

1 Cor 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DIME OF EVERY DOLLARno questions asked. Ten percent is a miniscule amount in our affluent society, but it must come off the top in order to show that God is our priority. We want the blessing of the firstfruits (first devotion, first dime and first day) to flow out to the rest of our resources. 3) TEAMWORD

The key word is relationships. Building relationships makes you feel a part. Building relationships around the word of God and ministry will make you be a part.

QUALITY CHRISTIANITY INVOLVES THREE THINGS

Keeping Christ at the center (your core relationship of worship to God) Keeping the body of Christ a priority (your congregational relationship of walking Basing beliefs and actions on the mind of Christ (your church relationship in the

with us) Word) Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DAY OF EVERY WEEK. You should fellowship with a group of believers around the word of God every Sunday in our church.

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had prayed. Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition. God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son. Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92
