JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES

Parson To Person
By Kerry Hookstra 34 Years in the Ministry
We do well to stop and smell the roses along the paths of life. Even in times of difficulty and distress there are points of beauty reminding us of God's amazing love and care. We live in a world created for our enjoyment and habitation. Our live are most certainly more difficult than God originally planned all because of disobedience to His single command. We look around at the heat of this summer and the drought over large sections of the country only to be reminded that such events were the product of that first sin. Despite the problems we may face, God is ready for us to be refreshed in Him and His word. Old Testament prophets were somewhat fearful about coming to God for any reason since there was a definite fear factor. They hesitated to seek refreshment in Him even when that was the only way to find the sustenance needed to continue on with their ministries. New Testament folks found a different tone coming from Jesus. He came to earth and asked people to come to see Him. Jesus asked crowds to come to Him and in that coming to listen to God. The disciples were refreshed in the presence of the Savior. Jesus presents Himself as the good shepherd who leads His sheep and as one upon whom we can lay all our burdens. He calls Christians to lean on Him and confess our sins. Satan would defeat every Christian if possible but James, the brother of Jesus, tells the followers of Christ to resist the devil and he will flee from you. We will win when Jesus is exalted in our lives and we are refreshed by His love.

At&T seeks to hire men and women who have served in the military
Members of the Military and Veterans Encouraged To Visit New Online Job Portal www. ATT.jobs/Military AT&T Oklahoma has launched a new initiative to hire those who have served in the military to protect the freedoms we celebrate. The new online web portal, www.ATT.jobs/ Military, links Oklahoma active duty military and veterans with jobs AT&T is looking to fill and also includes a Military Skills Translator, which helps military and veterans match their unique skills with career opportunities at AT&T. "We have so many brave women and men here in Oklahoma who are serving or have served our country in the military in order to protect our freedom," said Bryan Gonterman, President of AT&T Oklahoma. "Through their service, they have learned valuable skills that can translate very well to the workforce. AT&T wants to ensure that we are reaching out to them to connect those skills with job opportunities with our company." "But this isn't just about filling a job opening. It's about honoring and respecting the service the military and veterans have given our country," Gonterman added. As part of its efforts to connect Oklahoma military and veterans to job opportunities, AT&T has partnered with Oklahoma Secretary of Veterans Affairs Rita Aragon and the Oklahoma Department of Commerce's veterans' hiring portal www.OKMilitaryConnection. com , through which veterans can click to AT&T's web site for military and veterans. "I originally joined the Oklahoma National Guard as a way to help provide for my family. Along the way gained strength from professional, physical, and personal development and education that the United States Air Force offered," said Secretary Aragon. "Serving in the military provided me the opportunity to achieve all our state and country have to offer, so I understand how important it is to ensure that our men and women who have served take advantage of the opportunities that make use of the skills they have learned. I am grateful to AT&T for making hiring veterans a priority and for partnering with the Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs on this initiative." At the present time there are more than 50 jobs openings with AT&T for which Oklahoma veterans can apply. Job listings are frequently updated to reflect new openings.

"And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near." -- Hebrews 10: 24-25
