Call the above elementary schools about their after-school child-care programs. Also, St. Johns After-School Adventures is offered for kindergartners through fifth-graders from 2:30 to 6 p.m. at St. John United Methodist Church, 12700 W. U.S. 42 in Prospect. When schools are closed, child care will be offered from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for those enrolled in the after-school program. Information: Shelly Nivens at 753-1767. Oldham County Preschool offers classes for children who will be 3 or 4 by Oct. 1. Applicants must meet federal or state income or disability requirements. Check the school district website, www.oldham.kyschools.us/preschool, or call if there are questions regarding eligibility requirements. The program is a blended Head Start/ state-funded preschool. An open house for enrolled children will run from 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 16. The classes, which begin Aug. 20, will meet Mondays through Thursdays from 7:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. or noon to 3:30 p.m. They are held at the Oldham County Preschool building behind Buckner Elementary, 4309 Brown Blvd. near La Grange.
