As with all P&H electric shovel and dragline models, the 320XPC runs on the innovative and forward-thinking Centurion control system.This system provides the controls to monitor and automatically optimize drill rotary and pulldown force. In addition, Centurion-enabled health monitoring tools and performance enhancements are available as part of this advanced control system, resulting in streamlined productivity and maintenance for your blasthole drill.

Comfortable Cab
Blasthole drilling productivity begins here.The P&H 320XPC drill operator cab provides stateof-the-art safety, comfort and control. Special features include: A deep front and safe overhead window design provides easy viewing of the deck and rotary carriage while the operator is in a seated position. Overhead and baseboard ventilation supplies a curtain of climate-controlled air against the windows, keeping the operator comfortable and the windows free of frost or fog.
A deep front window design is one of the productivity enhancing features of the P&H 320XPC drill.

A deck-mounted climate control system and a cab free of bolted panels results in a quiet environment for the operator cab noise levels are measured at less than 80 dB during operation. Additional lower exterior lights turn on automatically in propel mode for more visible and safer tramming. Two doors permit easy ingress/egress. A passenger seat is provided for trainee or technician and access ports allow connectivity to the drive systems. A Centurion-based Graphical User Interface (GUI) provides continuous feedback on all operating systems (including motor currents, main motor bearing and stator temperature, rotary and hoist motor temperatures, precise water tank level, and back brace lock warning), all I/O status, as well as the ability to set parameters and troubleshoot problems from the touch-screen display. The Centurion system utilizes finger-safe 24VDC for maximized safety.

The use of distributed I/O drops and noise-free fiberoptic cable linking all I/O and drives, in addition to a superior Centurion supervisory controller, reduces mass hard wiring, resulting in minimized points of failure and simplified troubleshooting. A common Centurion control system used on drills, shovels, and draglines within a machine fleet simplifies training of service technicians; the system also provides a platform that is advance semi-autonomous drilling ready. It all adds up to optimized operator performance and blasthole drilling production.

A deck mounted HVAC system assists the operators cab in reaching noise levels below 80 dB during operation as well as providing easy access for maintenance.

A variable speed control winch provides safe and precise loading and unloading of drilling equipment from the rear deck.

Efficient Deck Layout

The machinery house and drill deck contain key maintenance areas where layout and space are crucial. The 320XPC deck layout provides wide exterior and interior walkways and ample space in the machinery house for tools and laptops. Special features and design elements include: A single Main Control Cabinet houses the Centurion systems AC800 supervisory controller, Profibus network hardware, line monitoring hardware, and intelligent motor starters - all within a small serviceable footprint. The mainframe is designed using finite element analysis for optimal structural integrity. A strong main transformer capacity handles the toughest electrical loads. Overhead cable trays provide improved access and increased safety. The main electrical grease system is located in the machinery house for easy maintenance. Wiggins FastFill system provides easy hydraulic and lube filling for all primary reservoirs.

Rugged Mast
The drill mast is a structure subjected to high loads. The P&H 320XPC drill mast is designed using finite element analysis to ensure high cycle fatigue resistance. Constructed of common high strength alloy steel, the mast provides maximum rotary carriage and drill string support. Special features and design elements include: Mast raising cylinders on exterior of house eliminate leaks above the valve banks, improving safety and cleanliness, and keeping components free of dust. Proximity switches on the back brace locking cylinders prevent damage during raising and lowering of the mast. Mast raise/lower proportional solenoid provides ramped ReaR control of mast LeveLing Jacks (2) motions, reducing vaLve stress on the mast. bank 3 Independent greasing of upper and lower systems prevents overlubrication of the mast, keeping the deck clean and safe.

Powerful Pulldown
For positive bit loading, the P&H 320XPC features top-drive rack-and-pinion pulldown, which contributes to better availability of the machine due to fewer wearing components requiring maintenance. Special features include: Dedicated master/follower drives for each rotary motor provide accurate load-sharing, and eliminate difficult load-share set-up and the risk of unbalanced motors. Large durable backup rollers improve roller and rear mast chords life. Thermal monitoring of carriage motors prevents damage to motors.
