THE GASCOM PYRO-BOILER

CONTEXT
Agriculture can make a major contribution to solving the increasingly pressing problems of energy and the environment. Agriculture produces biomass from a wide range of sources including ground and fruit crops, livestock, food product pre-processing, forest and woodland management, and short to medium term production cycles. Gascom Renew can supply small scale, rotary drum pyrolysis systems that are specifically designed to exploit these types of solid biomass. Gascom Renew reactors are fully integrated with systems optimised to use different types of locally produced, low value, and often problematic biomass. In addition to supplying the plant, Gascom Renew can also provide plant maintenance and management services, backed up by long term guarantees.

BPT TECHNOLOGY
The term BPT (Biomass Pyro-Technology) identifies a range of technical solutions for exploiting solid biomass, based on rotary drum, slow pyrolysis reactors. Depending on the characteristics of the biomass and of the products of its transformation, the reactor may be complemented by special burners or integrated in conventional or innovative energy systems (boilers or gassifiers respectively). The system can therefore be configured to run pyrocombustion, pyrolysis or pyrogasification processes. Gascom Renews technology works even with problematic, left-over types of biomass such as farm waste, forestry waste, livestock waste, food processing waste, biological sludge, and other biodegradable materials.

THE PYRO-BOILER
The Gascom Renew pyro-boiler is a special designed pyrocombustion reactor for slow processes. Its products (pyro-gas and pyro-char) can be used to generate heat. The pyrolysis process can be combined with the controlled combustion of its products to create biomass boilers capable of burning various types of low quality and otherwise problematic material. The Gascom Renew reactor is unique in that it implements two separate yet integrated process steps in the same system: Step 1: indirect pyrolysis of the biomass in a rotary drum reactor, in the complete absence of oxidants, to produce pyro-gas and pyro-char;
