Your Elders want you to know that we are continuing the search for a Director of Childrens Ministry. We are doing our best to be prayerful and diligent. However, we are finding that candidates that meet our criteria (part-time) are difficult to locate and we have not received a great number of enquiries or resumes. We want to express our sincere gratitude to those who are volunteering their service, in this area while the search continues. We ask each of you to continue in prayerful support of our efforts.

THOUGHTS FROM BRAD

By the time you read this article, the Feed the Shoe event has come and gone. We had a total of twenty-seven people participate as we bagged up food for the hungry in Haiti. I am so thankful for all of you who gave of your time and effort to accomplish so much for those who have so little. I also want to thank all of you who sacrificially gave donations to help sponsor various individuals. Your gift of $25 not only sponsored an individual but it bought enough food supply to feed 135 people. Wow! We have so much to be thankful for in this country. Its not too late to make plans to join us for our revival nights. If you couldnt join us last Sunday, you missed my father preach. Dad has preached for 61 years and he did a great job. Please allow me to encourage you to come out and hear Steve Seevers on August 19th. Steve has served as Campus Minister both at O.U. and O.S.U. I want to say a special thanks to those who are donating our refreshments for each night of the revival this month. If you would still like to sign up for the refreshments, you can do so in the coat room. Scripture says Encourage one another and build each other up, just as you are doing. May you continue to be a blessing to the people of your life; your church; your workplace; your family; and your community. God is good, so may his goodness shine in you! KEENAGERS TO BIBLEWALK: We still have some seats available for this Wednesday, August 22, trip. We will be visiting the site called BibleWalk housed by the Diamond Hill Cathedral in Mansfield. This is an inspirational presentation of the Bible in a life size wax museum. Our departure time is 8:00 am. The cost for travel and admission is just $10 per person. Following our tour, we will be having lunch at the Der Dutchman Restaurant, in Bellville. They offer a lunch buffet or you may order from the menu. A sign-up sheet is posted. Early payment will be appreciated. NEW HORIZONS RETREAT: This Sunday will be your last opportunity to get the bargain rate registration of $20 per person for the New Horizons Retreat. After August 14, the rate is $25. We have, for several years, enjoyed this excellent program which is hosted by the North Terrace Church of Christ, in Zanesville. The date, this year, is Tuesday, September 11. The registration fee includes a continental breakfast and lunch. Our departure time is 7:30 am and our return, approximately, midafternoon. (As of this writing, we have 19 registered.) A sign-up sheet is now posted (along with registration forms). Complete a registration form and give it to me, along with your registration fee. Do this early, as registrations are limited. WEDNESDAYS: Study groups will return in September.

We serve an amazing God who is all powerful and capable of speaking all things into existence. By His word everything that has been created came into being as described in the first chapter of John. Yet He chooses to involve us in what He is doing. Ephesians 3:20 says Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. God can accomplish His will without any assistance from us whatsoever, but invites us to come along side Him and participate in the gospel, by His power at work within us so that we, the church, might share in bringing Him glory. In that process He teaches us more and more about who He is and how much He loves us. How is God inviting you to share in His ministry today? How is He equipping you to bring Him glory by the things He is working in you? Lord, open our eyes that we might recognize the simple ways we can glorify You in our daily lives. Amen. A special thanks to all who participated in the Feed the Shoe event either by actually going or by contributing to help defray the costs. The August military hero of the month is Sgt. Nathaniel J. Grabaskas. Sgt. Grabaskas joined the U.S. Army in February, 2009. After successfully completing Airborne Training in July, 2009, Sgt. Grabaskas was assigned to the 173rd Airborne Brigade in Vincenza, Italy. During that two year assignment he deployed to Afghanistan for a year in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. In 2010, Sgt. Grabaskas was awarded both Soldier of the Month and Soldier of the Year Sgt. Grabaskas is presently serving his 2nd deployment to Afghanistan as a Tactical Explosive Detection Dog Handler. He and his dog, Laika, are attached to the 1st Brigade Special Troops Battalion. Sgt. Grabaskas is the grandson of Richard and Bertha Boyer. Sgt. Christ-Centered Worship
We make it a priority every Sunday to celebrate Jesus through our music. (Romans 11:36-12:1-2). We focus on Jesus through grace-based preaching and teaching & understand the Bible is our authority (2 Timothy 3:16).

How Can I Respond Today?

At FACC we look to the Bible for guidance on all issues. We believe that Gods Word is clear concerning what a person must do to become a Christian. Trust that Jesus can bring you to salvation. Turn (repent) from the sin in your life. Confess your desire to make Jesus the Lord of your life. Be baptized (immersed) in water for the forgiveness of sins and to receive the Holy Spirit into your life. To make this life decision for Christ, we ask that you come forward during our commitment song at the conclusion of the Sunday message. Baptized believers are welcome to become members at FACC by coming forward on Sunday morning or by seeing our Senior Minister to discuss this further. We ask that you complete a series of Curious classes to help you better understand what you are committing to as a member.

Discipleship
We do not want you to "get religion" here at Fifth Avenue Church of Christ in Lancaster. We are all about teaching you that Jesus seeks a daily relationship with Him through a life of obedience. In other words, we want to see the things you are taught actually change your lifestyle & your daily decisions.

Social Conscience
We place high value on the sanctity of human life, of Biblical marriage and morality, and we welcome ethnic diversity (Isaiah 56:7; Philippians 2:15-16).
