The feast of the Assumption is also known as the Feast of the Dormition (falling asleep) of Mary. The feast commemorates Marys assumption into heaven. PRAYER IN HONOUR OF MARY Almighty God, You gave a humble Virgin the privilege of being mother of your Son, and crowned her with the glory of heaven. May the prayers of the Virgin Mary bring us to the salvation of Christ and raise us up to eternal life. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit one God, forever and ever. Amen Liturgy of the Hours
