Alat ukur ketegaklurusan di Laboratorium Perancangan dan Pengembangan Produk Mesin ITS sebenarnya belum pernah dirancang dan dibuat , tetapi memanfaatkan height gauge sebagai stand ukur dan memanfaatkan sensor LVDT yang dikontrol dengan computer dimana masih belum sesuai dengan harapan, yaitu dari percobaan yang sudah dilakukan, diketahui , bahwa mekanisme gerak sensor masih manual menggunakan bantuan tangan untuk menaik turunkan sensor. Akibatnya proses pengukuran menjadi lambat dan akurasinya kurang, karena jarak pergeseran interval naik turun sensor tidak stabil atau tidak selalu tepat berhenti di posisi tertentu. Untuk itu perlu dilakukan perancangan alat ukur baru untuk memenuhi kebutuhan, khusus pada Tugas Akhir ini Alat ukur yang akan dirancang adalah alat ukur ketegaklurusan dengan menggunakan unit kontrol berbasis microprocessor, yaitu dirancang unit kontrol yang dapat dipakai untuk mengontrol gerak naik turun sensor. Unit kontrol dilengkapi dengan software yang dikembangkan dengan bahasa Visual Basic 6.0. Komponen yang dikontrol adalah motor DC yang dihubungkan dengan ulir penggerak, sehingga sensor LVDT dapat bergerak naik turun secara otomatis pada posisi tertentu. Dari verifikasi yang dilakukan, unit kontrol dapat berfungsi untuk mengatur pengukuran ketegaklurusan. Hasil yang didapatkan yaitu proses pengukuran 3x lebih cepat serta keakuratan pengukuran menjadi lebih baik.

Perpendicular measuring instrument at the Laboratory of Machine Design and Product Development of ITS in fact has never been designed and manufactured, but use the height gauge as a stand measuring and utilizing LVDT sensor which is controlled by computer which is still not in line with expectations, from an experiment that has been done, it is known, that motion sensor mechanism is still manually using a hand to help lower the increasing censorship. As a result, the measurement process becomes slower and less accurate, because the distance interval shift up and down the sensor is not stable or not always appropriate to stop at a certain position. It is necessary for the design of new measuring instruments to meet the needs, especially in this final measuring devices will be designed is perpendicularity measuring instrument using microprocessor-based control unit, which is designed control unit that can be used to control the up and down motion sensors. The control unit is equipped with software developed with Visual Basic 6.0. Components are controlled is a DC motor which is connected with screw drivers, so the LVDT sensor can move up and down automatically at a certain position. From the verification is done, the control unit can function to regulate perpendicular measurement. The results obtained are 3x faster measurement process and accuracy of measurement for the better.
