Synopsis: To request authorization for operational travel to New
York and Washington, D.C., Divisions.
Details: The above-captioned investigation was opened on March
10, 2006, based on a referral from the DOJ, Public Integrity
Unit. The case is a priority both at the Office of the US
Attorney, Los Angeles, and at FBIHQ, Public Corruption Unit.

WDC Divisions to coordinate and conduct crucial witness
interviews.

Those being interviewed are going to be accompanied by
counsel. In addition, some interviewees are attolnevs who rnav
have an attorney/client privilege. As such, AUSA I
from the USAO, Los Angeles, will also be needed to travel to NY
and WOe in order to participate in the interviews. It is
requested that the FBI cover the costs of the AUSA's travel due
to the unavailability of funding from the USAO.
It is anticipated the travelers would arrive in NY the
evening of 9/24/2006, and depart for woe on the evening of
9/27/06. The travelers would then return to Los Angeles on the
evening of 9/29/06. The approximate costs for three persons to
