So the September general meeting will be devoted to that purpose. Prez Jim said to watch for a survey via email or mail and please answer promptly. New Business 1. Nominating Committee Bill Morrow addressed the subject of a nominating committee for next years officers. Jim Haddon asked for volunteers, he said he needed two past presidents on the committee. The Nominating Committee consists of Bill Morrow, Bruce Biddle, Sully (Don) Sullivan, and Bob McConchie. 50/50 and Door Prize Drawings Bucket Dudette/Dude was Joan Reeves and George Higley

Last months winner was Jim Croft who was in the park but not available to sell tickets until right before the start of the meeting. Maybe we can get him to sell tickets in September. No door prizes for this meeting, the tickets sold gave three money drawings. Congratulations to George Higley, Deanna Rogers and Bruce Biddle who each won $31.00. FOR THE GOOD OF THE ORDER 1. Letter from Scott Dated 7/23/2012 Hello Fellow Cruzers, I hope this finds everyone in good health and enjoying your western Washington summer (all two weeks of it). The other day I received three care packages sent from my Cruzers friends and again you all out did yourselves, I am humbled by your love and generosity. Thank you from me and all the members of my team. The car puzzle was a big hit, we immediately cleared off the top of one of our work benches and we all sat around and put it together, it just so happened that we found a bottle of puzzle glue and it is now proudly hanging on the wall in our office. Thanks for all the car magazines they are always a big hit as is the candy and snacks. The seven members of my team have received so many care packages over the last few months that the airman who delivers the boxes to our building has had to make extra trips just to bring our stuff and the others in our building can't believe we can get so many boxes, we just tell them we are truly loved and invite them to dig in and enjoy. The running joke is if they is ever an earth quake, if you can make it to our office there are enough supplies to survive on for months. Things here are going good, we are about 90% done with our underground cable duct system around the base and we should start our tower antenna job in the next few weeks, it's been super-hot here and that makes for some long miserable days but we are over the halfway point and should be heading home in about 85 days if all goes as planned, but we all know how that goes so Im not holding my breath yet. Again, thank you all for your generosity, love and prayers cant wait to get back to some cooler weather and see all of you. Your Cruzer Friend, Scott. Note: Scotts email address is srw958@live.com

2. Thank You Jean Weiman, Executive Director, at the Help House sent us a nice thank you letter for our July 21 car show. We collected 163 lbs. of food and a net donation of $1106.00 was

given to the Help House. I would like to thank the Whidbey Cruzers who volunteered their time, generosity, and actual presence at the car show. I appreciate all the support you gave me. Thank you very much. 3. Jim Croft brought up that the Blue Fox Drive-In has to switch to a digital projection by 2013 and needs help with raising money to do this. Ways to contribute are buying a Tshirt, buying the old speakers and going out there to eat. They also have a full service print shop for screen printing embroidery, vinyl heat transfers, and banners. Check out their website at www.bluefoxdrivein.com or email bluefoxprints@gmail.com or call 360-675-5667. They also have great pizza, many other snacks plus go-carts.

FROM YOUR SECRETARY My goal for this year is the same, to provide as much correct informative information to you in this newsletter as I possibly can. If you have any ideas of what you might like to see in the newsletter let me know. 360-679-7936 Thanks again. CRUZN WITH THE PREZ Dear Cruzers Our club meeting on August 7th was an interesting one. Again this year we met at Windjammer Park for the National Night Out event. It was a little cooler than most would have liked, but that soon changed to rain, which even more of us were not happy with. We did have a good showing with a number of members braving the weather and bringing their rides (I paid my $1 for not bringing mine). The abbreviated meeting meant that Harry only had 30 seconds, which he stretched to a little over a minute. We moved quickly to avoid as many rain drops as we could, but did hear about several cruises including the one to Anacortes and the one to Bend, Oregon on the previous weekend everyone was raving about both. I mentioned in the meeting about the importance of attending next months meeting on Tuesday, September 4th. This is a VERY IMPORTANT MEETING! Our club has been changing over the last several years and some members are concerned that we

are getting away from the original plan formulated by the founders. In response to these issues I am writing a survey that I want to get out to all members, in which I am asking for your feedback on club and member focus. We will email the form to each member we have addresses for and send it via the Post Office to those who dont. Please turn these around as quickly as possible so we can get as much input as possible before the September meeting. You will be instructed on how and where to return the surveys. I, like others, am very concerned that the club is what it should be to its members. Frankly, the monthly meetings have become very boring, even to me and I am the one leading them. Please help me to find a path to making our meetings better and our club more fulfilling to all members. Thanks! Be safe, there are a bunch of old people out there driving wildly in hot rods. Your Prez, Jim Haddon
