Course Description : Advanced work in production, performance and aesthetics through the study of acting styles of great performers past and present. Course Outline/Calendar : 1. Acting Technique Review: 3 weeks - Character Analysis - Script Scoring 2. Play Production 9 weeks - Scoring Scripts - Play Study - Final Performance is a public performance You are REQUIRED to participate. The performances are November 29 th and 30 th and December 1 st at 7:30 pm. After school rehearsals are REQUIRED November 26 th , 27 th and 28 th from 3:50 to 6:30 p.m. 3. Audition Techniques 3 weeks - Audition monologues - Resume - Portfolios 4. Ensemble Acting 3 weeks

Actors Journal Notebook that is solely used for acting notes Movement clothing

Instructional Procedures : Students are required to participate EVERYDAY in all activities. An entry must be made everyday in the actors journal regarding the activity.

Expectations for Student Preparation, Performance, and Participation: Assignments should be handed in in a timely manner. Students will have a DAILY participation grade.

Attendance/Administrative Procedures :

If you are tardy, you must report to the attendance office, and then come to class with a pass. No FOOD, GUM OR DRINKS (OTHER THAN WATER) ARE ALLOWED IN MY CLASS.

Grading System : 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Daily grades 25 points Actors Journal grades (weekly) 50 points Project grades 100 to 200 points Test grades - 200 points Performance grades 300 points

20% of your grade is class participation. 50% of your grade is project grades. 30% of your grade is performance and test grades. *At the end of the semester, there will be a final performance exam that is worth 20% of your overall semester grade. The performance exam will have a written portion as well. Opportunities for Extra Help and Assistance: 25 points extra credit will be awarded for seeing play productions that are recommended by me. 50 points extra credit will be awarded for seeing RHHS play productions. 50 points extra credit will be awarded for participating in an after school extracurricular play production at RHHS.
