My favorite preschool math games (if I repeat what has already been said, sorry) .

Most of these are probably already listed in the files section as well. Like others have said: Counting with beans, rocks, coins, or whatever child wants to use. Create patterns with discrete numbers. (e.g., 3 in row, 3 in columns, 3 diagonal , 3 triangle) Use dice to see who can name what rolls the fastest. Can do same with sides of dominoes or even cards. More advanced pre-school: (1)play war and its many variations (beginner: <>=, intermediate: +-, advanced: x; player turns over 2 cards for operations) My oldest is an older year 0 with a talent for numbers, turned 6 in December, and we are learning the concept of po sitive/negative so we will be using red/black cards as negative and positive int egers. You can design even more variations. (2)Take measurements using tools with gradations (skip count and decimals/fracti ons: our height measurement rule goes by .5 inch, thermometer goes by 2 degrees) (3) Play estimating games with snacks. I can grab a handful of raisins and son used to guess how many and then count to see if correct. And don't forget more games with height, volume (different shape glasses), and m ass.
