Jane D. Salamanes Course: Bachelor in Secondary Education (Bio-Science) Year and Section: BSEd 4C Resource Teacher:Mr. Nelson Bello Signature _________________ Cooperating School: Gadgaran Integrated School Your Target At the end of this activity, you will gain competence in managing time, space and resources to provide an environment which is appropriate to the learne rs and conducive to learning. Your Map To reach your target, do the following tasks:

Your Tools Use the activity form provided for you to document your observations. AN OBSERVATION GUIDE FOR THE LEARNERS CHARACTERISTICS Read the following statements carefully. Then write your observation report on t he provided space. 1. As you observe the class, look into the characteristics of the learners. Note their ages. 2. How many boys are there? How many girls? 3. Focus on their behavior. Are they already able to manage their own behav ior? 4. Can the learners already work independently? 5. Describe their span of attention. 6. Look into their listening skills and ability to concentrate.

AN OBSERVATION GUIDE FOR THE CLASSROOM VISIT Be guided by these questions as you do your observation of the classroom management. It is also good to ask the teacher for additional information so yo u can verify your observation. Write your notes below; and then organize your da ta in the table that follows. 1. Are there areas in the classroom for specific purposes (storage of teach ing aids, books, students belongings, supplies, etc.)? 2. Are there rules and procedures posted in the room? 3. Did the students participate in making the classroom rules? 4. What are the daily routines done by the teacher? (prayer, attendance, as signment of monitors, warm-up activities, etc.) How are they done? 5. Is there a seating arrangement? What is the basis of this arrangement? 6. Observe the noise level in the classroom. How is this managed? 7. If a learner is not following instructions or is off-task, what does the teacher do? (behavior strategies) 8. Classroom Procedures Give the students a price to those who e xcel in the class and a demerit to those who are not. 4. Daily Routines Prayer before the class. before anything else alw ays seek God. 5. Seating Arrangement 2 columns and in every columns there are 6 rows. The students are crowded in their seats so the teacher cant focus on the other. 6. Handling misbehavior/off-task behavior Noisy students are observed during classes. The teacher gave punishment to those who are noisy. Reinforcement of Positive Behavior Values Education Corner Students apply the different val ues they have learned. 8. Others 9. Others 10. Others

Your Analysis 1. ior? How did the classroom organization and routines affect the learners behav

The classroom organization and routines affects the learner behavior in a sense that it serves as a guide for the students on how to manage their task and it al so serve as a guide for them to change their attitude because they know that the ir teacher is monitoring their behavior. 2. What should the teacher have in mind when he/she designs the classroom o rganization and routines? What theories and principles should you have in mind? The teacher should bare in his mind when he designs the classroom organization a nd routine, the effects of those to the learners, what would be the outcome of t hose things if it is effective or not. I guess the theory of John Dewey which is the experimental learning or the learn ing by doing. By this theory we can help our students to work or learn independe ntly, because not all times we have a companion to do our task, they should lear n to face the world independently without depending to others. 3. Which behavior strategies were effective in managing the behavior of the learners? in motivating students? Why were they effective? I guess the effective strategy in managing the behavior of the students is the r ecitation or the student centered strategy so that the students will be attentiv e to the discussion and will focus their attention to the lesson, so that if the teacher will asked a question they will not be afraid to answer. Your Reflections 1. Imagine yourself organizing your classroom in the future. In what grade/ year level do you see yourself? What routines and procedures would you consider for this level? Why? Im imagining myself in the first section in the second year level. If ever I will be organizing a classroom, the routines that I will practice is first the prayer and then checking of the attendance. I would also do different exercises to mea sure their learning and checking all their activities. 2. Make a list of the rules you are likely to implement in this level. Why

would you choose these rules? Come to class on time. Follow the rules and regulations inside the class. Wear proper uniform. Always wear Id. No cheating during the exam. Im choosing those rules to discipline the students to be responsible and to have a discipline to their selves. 3. Should learners be involved in making the class rules? Why?

Yes, the learners should be involved in the class rules so that they will be awa re of the dos and donts inside the room, and to make them know their limitations wh en they are inside the classroom.
