Gabriel Machibya 4147 E Desert Pl. Tucson, AZ, 85712 (520) 205-1734 gmachibya@gmail.com Abstract Technological integration is a crucial ingredient in the foundation of any successful academic institution. Indeed, the rapid proliferation of education in the developed world is often linked to the use of computers and technology.1 However the establishment and maintenance of a durable computer network offers a very particular set of challenges especially when it is stationed in region of questionable infrastructure. Aside from the obvious finical limitations imposed by schools in the developing world, the lack of open access to technology has left a considerable gap in the markets of local labor. This leaves the most practical option to construct offsite and ship the complete set up; unfortunately this to poses some difficulties. Though it is not exceedingly difficult to learn the basics of networking and website construction it is time consuming and as such draws somewhat excessive fees from budding web designers. Traditionally, the need for continued maintenance has also been a debilitating issue as qualified developers may not have enough control thousands of miles away; however the adaptation of cloud networks has made this a problem of the past. This leaves an operating model that consists of a very particular set of needs: (1) Low cost set up, (2) little to no need for onsite maintenance, (3) the networking capabilities necessary for continued growth. Goals & Objective The plan I propose consists of a three phase process spanning from June 5 to August 1 that would ensure a thorough understanding of the concepts of web design along with a functional website. The first phase, lasting the remainder of July, would be a learning period in which I study flat, hierarchical, and relation files per the construction of the student and faculty access center. By utilizing the wealth of resources offered by the University of Arizona I would form a current base of knowledge in the fields of study guaranteeing the longevity of the site. To aid in the learning process and to make it easier for whoever may need to modify the site, I would write a non-technical field guide that outlines the core theories. While this would provide the option for unskilled maintenance but does not require it; the guide should be seen more as a backup.

The second phases extending from July 1-15 would be the actual construction of the site and its sub pages. For the record this will include an interactive user and faculty information portal, an accompanying database to store information, and a system of networking to link the campus computers and allow for wireless communication. This phase would end on 15, or Monday, July 16 for you convenience, with the formal presentation of the updated website. The third and final phase from July 15 to August 1 would be when I took constructive feedback and made any changes necessary. Budget Because of the limited funding available for the project I will be willing at whatever rate or flat price is deemed appropriate. Still, it can be reasonably assumed that some operating cost will arise during construction including but not limited to: a wireless router, permanent database/website server etc. My somewhat extensive knowledge of the World Care organization may allow me to obtain some supplies at a significantly discounted rate and I will be willing to communicate with them directly. To further mitigate costs I would also be willing to research charitable organizations that may be offering grants to organizations such as these though this should not be seen as a long term funding option. Summary I recognize and appreciate the opportunity being offered to me by the Golden Ridge High School and you in particular. Moreover, I relish the chance to use my skills to effect real and lasting change in an area that is near and dear to my heart. If you have any questions or see any problems with the plan I have suggested please feel free to contact me at (520) 205-1734 or through email at gmachibya@gmail.com For Your Consideration,

Gabriel Machibya
