Athletic shoes Playing cards/games (optional) Athletic equipment and fishing pole (optional) Youth are not to have electronics, including iPods and cell phones, during the retreat at any time. Sponsors are asked to administer this guideline due to safety and social considerations.

Directions
From Roanoke/ I-81 corridor From I-81 take exit 143, I-581 S (220 S), through Roanoke and Boones Mill. Continue past Boones Mill on 220 S for 4.2 miles to Wirtz Rd. (Rt. 697). (There will be an Exxon & Dairy Queen on the left, Plateau Park & Franklin Motel on the right.) Turn LEFT onto Wirtz Rd. (Rt. 697). Follow Wirtz Rd. for 5 miles to the stop sign. At stop sign, turn LEFT onto Rt. 122 N (Booker T. Washington Highway). Go 1 mile to Burnt Chimney Rd. Turn RIGHT onto Burnt Chimney Rd. (Rt. 670). Follow Burnt Chimney Rd. for 6.7 miles to Rt. 668. (Dudleys Schoolhouse Store will be on the right directly past the road.) See further directions at bottom. From Martinsville, South & North Carolina On 220 N, take second Rocky Mount exit to Rt. 40 E/W. At end of ramp take a RIGHT onto Rt. 40 E. Go almost 1 mile to Rt. 122 N (You will pass through 4 stoplights; Rt. 122 N is the fourth light.) Take a LEFT onto Rt. 122 N (Booker T. Washington Hwy.) Follow Rt. 122 N for 6.8 miles to Burnt Chimney Rd. Follow Burnt Chimney Rd. for 6.7 miles to Rt. 668. (Dudleys Schoolhouse Store will be on the right directly past the road.) See further directions below. Then once on Burnt Chimney Rd: Turn RIGHT onto Rt. 668 (Lovely Valley Rd.) Follow for 0.7 miles to the stop sign. Turn RIGHT onto Rt. 944 (Crafts Ford Rd.) Follow for 1.6 miles to a sharp curve. Turn left onto Hermitage Rd. (Rt. 669). Follow Hermitage Rd. to the 4-H Center.

Lunch will not be served on Saturday. Consider packing lunches and enjoying them by the lake when you arrive.

Speaker: Micah Hurst


Micah is a Third Culture Kid, Preachers Kid and a former homeschooler who spent his growing up years in the USA, Canada, and Australia. As a college student at Hesston & EMU he studied Bible, Youth and Camping Ministries. Since college, Micah has worked at a number of camps and youth programs both in the US and abroad. He has also served a youth pastor in VA and is returning to EMU this fall as a Resident Director. Micah loves playing ultimate Frisbee, card games, and camp games, as well as fixing and riding bikes. He and his family dont own a car and have chosen to ride bikes everywhere they can as a way to better care for our world. He is passionate about his faith in a Loving God who calls us all into a loving relationship with God's self and with each other.

Retreat Details
Join us for a weekend of worship, faith stories, energetic activities, and friendship building! Middle school youth in grades 6-8 and adult sponsors are invited from all Virginia Mennonite Conference churches. The retreat is held at the W.E. Skelton 4-H Educational Conference Center, located at Smith Mountain Lake in Wirtz, Va. Cost: $60 per person Payment is due upon arrival at the retreat. Seth Crissman, Mitch Yoder, Lauren Yoder, and Kristina Landis Yoder met and began making music together while in college. Since college they added Greg Yoder to the group and began leading worship at retreats and giving concerts more regularly. As a group they love having fun, worshiping, and eating together! Registration Deadline: Please register by 5:00 pm on Thursday, September 6. Cancellations or changes must be received by 8:00 am on September 13. After that date, no changes can be made and payment in full will be required. Signed permission-release forms are required for each youth and must be turned in upon

arrival at the retreat. Please copy the enclosed form for each youth attending from your congregation.
