DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE: This Course discusses the construction, operation and characteristics of basic electronics devices such as PN junction diode, light emitting diode, Zener diode, Bipolar Junction Transistor and Field Effect Transistor. Diode circuit applications such as clipper, clamper and switching diode circuits will be a part of the lecture. Operation of a DC regulated power supply as well as analysis of BJT and FET amplifier circuit will be tackled. This course also discusses the operation and characteristics of operational amplifiers. COURSE CREDIT: PREREQUISITE: 2 Units lecture/ 1 Unit laboratory Physics 2

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES: The various Engineering programs will enable its graduates to: 1. Be effective in engineering design and the practical application of engineering theory in accordance with high standards of ethics. 2. Demonstrate effective communication skills and exhibit teamwork. 3. Be successfully employed or accepted into graduate programs and serve their communities, weather locally, nationally or globally. GENERAL OBJECTIVE OF THE COURSE: After completing the course, the student must be able to: 1. Understand the basic operation, construction and characteristics of different electronic devices such as PN, junction diode, light emitting diode, Zener diode, bipolar junction Transistor, Field Effect Transistor. 2. Understand the operation of a DC regulated power supply. 3. Analyze BJT and FET amplifier circuits. 4. Analyze Operational amplifier circuits. COMPUTATION OF GRADE Computation of Grade for Midterm Period Major Exams = 60% Class Requirements = 40% [P.E x 30%] + [M.E x 30%] + [Q x 20%] + [A/R x 10%] + [CP x 10%] = 100% or [P.E x 30%] + [M.E x 30%] + [Q x 20%] + [LAB Exercises x 20%] = 100% Computation of Grade for Final Period Major Exams = 60% Class Requirements = 40% [S.E x 30%] + [F.E x 30%] + [Q x 20%] + [A/R x 10%] + [CP x 10%] = 100% or [S.E x 30%] + [F.E x 30%] + [Q x 20%] + [LAB Exercise x 20%] = 100% Previous (Midterm Grade) = 100% x 40% Present Grade (Final Period) = 100% x 60% FINAL GRADE = 100% (Equivalent Grade Point) Note: The student must obtain at least 75% of the above requirements.
