David As I woke up every morning, the sounds and noise in the streets, the smell and taste of the foods, the feeling of hot summer and cold rainy days, these are the things that welcome my day. As a normal person, I always rely on my senses, as though we all know; its common for us that sometimes we almost forgot about the importance of having it. It seems like we take it for granted and forgot to take care of it. As I remembered during my elementary days, I was a weak child who often got sick. Sometimes due to my colds and fever, my sense of taste seemed to have problem. My mother will give me different kinds of food and after eating those foods, they had no taste at all. I got the idea that I will no longer be able to taste the fried chicken and it drove me lonely. As I recovered from my illness, my sense of taste also went back and I was very thankful that I can be able taste my foods again. After experiencing that situation I always take good care of my health cause it will not only help my tongue for tasting but also all of the parts of my body. But due to unknown reason my right eye got blurry while my left eye remains the same. I dont have the idea what happened to my right eye. I consulted to an ophthalmologist during my second year high school. The specialist advised me to wear eyeglasses and I did it. I got surprised when the result of the grade of my eyes showed. The left eye scored 60 while my right eye got 150+. Thats awful. As I grow up, the grades also increased. And I became a nearsighted person. I do not wear my eye glasses except when I will be reading or writing something. Im not comfortable wearing it. An instance made me more worried about my eye problem. I went to library and read a random book. I perform the test about the dominant eye that a person uses and I found out that my right eye was my dominant eye. I felt sorry for myself. As I watched discovery channel, I learned that not all seen by the eye were true neither the used of other senses. Its not on senses that you will rely on but on how you will interpret those things. That was the lesson I learned after watching it. For example, our eye will interpret the motion of a thing not only focusing on the object but also on its shadow. Another thing a gargled voice saying a two word was being held on public since the voice was blurry none of the person were able to understand the word. It is because our brain perceived only on particular sound that we often heard. It cannot perceive a new sound unless it is familiar to it. And the most familiar sound to our ears is the language. We, normal person, were lucky to have complete sense. But how about others who have disabilities like a person who is blind, deaf, or etc it is the world unfairness that made them like that? I dont think so. According to studies, if you have one of the senses totaled the other senses will adjust and will further develop until it will fill the gap. But it also depends on the person on how he insists and perseveres to do so. I watched on discovery a blind person being tested to know how he will pass through the obstacles given. But it was done by having a sound just what a bat use. And I was amazed to that person. Sensations and perceptions are the very basic means of how people and even other life forms experience the world. The way we perceive the world and define lifes value depends on how we live with it. We cannot deny that curiosity bombards us to seek and explore everything. Through the use of our basic senses we are able to see, smell, hear, feel, and taste. Without all these, I personally cant imagine what life would be like. As a human being, we are dynamically functioning and together with all these gifts we have full authority to change things by the manner we simply look at it. But still we have different perceptions on how things are. The culture that we grown up, the way we had nurtured, the norms and traditions of generations, all of these are factors. And we should respect other perception as we respect ours.
