Any addition of Al is determined by the supplier provided that both tempering and anti-aging conditions are satisfied; however, the max content of Al cannot exceed 0.040%.If actually done any addition of Al is to be certified accordingly. If required, the chemical analysis can be adjusted to Cr 0,10 0, 25% or V 0,05 0,10%. Reference norm: UNI EN 10016-4 (1996). If not agreed upon during supplier approval process or unlike clearly indicated in the certificate, the manufacturing process is determined by the manufacturer. The wire rod must be delivered with a certificate showing the non-radioactivity of the material, if the steel is not produced by primary iron ore route but if it is produced from secondary scrap route. 3.2 Mechanical Properties C79/84 C79/84 C79/84 C79/84 C79/84 R1160 + 1230 N/mm2 R1160 + 1230 N/mm2 R1160 + 1230 N/mm2 R1160 + 1250 N/mm2 R1160 + 1250 N/mm2 Z>30 % Z>30 % Z>30 % Z>30 % Z>30 %

Total edge decarburization is not acceptable, partial decarburization is acceptable provided it is not deeper than 1% for all diameters. 4.0 4.1 Surface Conditions and Defects Surface Defects

The rolled wire rod may not contain surface defects deeper than 1% of the diameter that may cause problems during processing or have an unacceptable influence on the quality of the finished product. This is understood to include surface defects occurring during manufacture, storage and transport of the rod such as peeling, holes, cracks, over rolling, rolling seams, inclusions of foreign bodies, deep scratches, roller imprints, roughness, mechanical damage and inter-crystalline corrosion. 4.2 Inclusions

The non-metallic inclusions must not be greater than K4=30 max, according to UNI 3244 or NF A 04-107 (1980 Edition).

4.3

Corrosion

The oxide scale of the rolled wire rod must be chemically removable using sulphuric acid solution. The surface may not contain products such as paint, oil, grease, tar or any other contaminant, which negatively influences the effect of the acid solution. Any eventual surface impurity shall not be cause for problems or slow speed in drawing or have any negative influence on the finished drawn wire. 5.0 Structure

Impurities such as non-metallic inclusions, pronounced segregation, non-metallic inclusions beneath the surface, duplications and/or other metallurgical deviations which have negative influence on processability or properties of the finished product must not occur. Structure must be fine pearlite not resolvable at 500 magnifications. Free ferrite should be absent. Absence of secondary cementite from grain boundary and the absence of island martensite are required. 6.0 Conditions of Delivery

Rod must not contain no welds. 6.1 Bundling

The rolled wire rods are supplied in coils which are firmly pressed together. The coil has to be kept in shape by at least 4 taunt straps or cable of sufficient strength. All coils in the same load should be transported and stored together. Deliveries should consist of complete loads. Circumferential binding wire should be of same size as of main binding wire. Wire rod coil bundling should be of enough strength to sustain multiple handling of shipping. The purpose of bundling is to make arrival of coil in good shape 6.2 Identification and Marking of the Coil

Each coil must be provided with 2 firmly attached and readable labels recording at least the following: Name of the manufacturer and rolling facility Indication of the quality of wire rod in accordance with this specification; Diameter

Delivery Documentation

Each delivery must be accompanied by a test report conforming to EN 10204 3.1 which includes the following: Certificate Number Date of Dispatch Customers Name Order Number Indication of the type of steel in accordance with this specification Nominal Wire Rod Diameter Load Number Number of coils included in the load concerned; Total mass of load Results of the internal inspection of the entire load as tensile strength and construction, chemical composition, including at least the % of the following: C, Mn, P, S, Si, Al, N, Cr, V and other elements on request inclusion rating decarburization. Dispatches of rolled wire rods must be preceded by fax to the attention of the purchasing department of the buyer. This fax must contain the details of the before mentioned. 8.0 Complaints Management

The incoming material non-conforming to what stated in this procedure of such quality that leads to problems and or breakages during pickling, drawing, stranding and any other operation, will be set aside and labelled with a non-conforming red tag; samples will be taken and sent to the supplier. The supplier, on his side, can visit our plant in order to gather any information needed for a better definition of the non-conformity. Any complaint must be defined within 60 days, if no reply is given within this time, the complaint is considered accepted and the expenses will be charged on the supplier.
