Women Connected

The Womens minisTries neWsleTTer aT Pender UmC Volume: 4 Issue Number: 6 Date: September 2012 Below are two devotionals from the daily devotional book Jesus Calling by Sarah Young. Hopefully they will help to keep us grounded during this busy time of transition into new schedules and routines. Dated August 25th I AM THE ETERNAL I AM; I always have been, and I always will be. In My Presence you experience Love and Light, Peace and Joy. I am intimately involved in all your moments, and I am training you to be aware of Me at all times. Your assignment is to collaborate with Me in this training process. I have taken up residence within you; I am central in your innermost being. Your mind goes off in tangents from its holy Center, time after time. Do not be alarmed by your inability to remain focused on Me. Simply bring your thoughts gently back to Me each time they wander. The quickest way to redirect your mind to me is to whisper My Name. (Exodus 3:14; Corinthians 3:16; Psalm 25:14-15) Dated August 29 DEMONSTRATE YOUR TRUST IN ME by sitting quietly in My Presence. Put aside all that is waiting to be done, and refuse to worry about anything. This sacred time together strengthens you and prepares you to face whatever the day will bring. By waiting with Me before you begin the days activities, you proclaim the reality of My living Presence. This act of faith waiting before working is noted in the spirit world, where your demonstration of trust weakens principalities and powers of darkness. The most effective way to resist evil is to draw near Me. When you need to take action, I will guide you clearly through My Spirit and My Word. The world is so complex and overstimulating that that you can easily lose your sense of direction. Doing countless unnecessary activities will dissipate your energy. When you spend time with Me, I restore your sense of direction. As you look to Me for guidance, I enable you to do less but accomplish more. (Luke 12:22; Ephesians 6:12; Proverbs 16:3)

Mary Martha Circle The members of the Mary

Martha Circle love the joy of welcoming women who are interested in experiencing a small group of women who support each other in our faith journeys. We enjoy an opportunity for much needed fellowship with each other over refreshments following a brief business meeting. We also enjoy offering our support to other ministries within the church. In addition, we reach out to those less fortunate than ourselves. This summer, some of us volunteered at the new Pender ReGift Thrift Store, and as time allows, some of us will continue to do that. Our next meeting will be Monday, Sept. 10th, at 7 PM, in Rooms 202-204. Please feel free to contact Carol Wilson for more details at 703-815-1744 or at carolorguyw@cox.net.

Ruth Circle meets on the second Wednesday of the

month at 9:15 a.m. usually at the church. For more information, please contact Barbe Hefferan at 703-3787048 or email jnbhefferan@verizon.net. Come visit at our next meeting! Ruth Circle is having their Kickoff Fall meeting with a breakfast at the home of Roberta Pont, 13504 Carmel Ln. (Brookfield) Chantilly, VA 20151. This Kickoff meeting will be held Wed. Sept 12 at 9 a.m. We would love to welcome new members to participate in the worship and service activities of Ruth Circle. If you are interested in joining us, please call Roberta at 703-378-7176 for directions. It is about a 10 minute drive from the church.

Susanna Circle will once again this fall be hosting the

Susanna Super Simple Suppers one Thursday evening each month. We have not determined the date of the first one yet, but please feel free to contact Jami Flemmons at jamiflemmons@verizon.net if you have any questions or would like information. May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13

I think Christians fail so often to get answers to their prayers because they do not wait long enough on God. They just drop down and say a few words, and then jump up and forget it and expect God to answer them. Such praying always reminds me of the small boy ringing his neighbor's door-bell, and then running away as fast as he can go. -E.M. Bounds
