In addition to answer the questions below you shall also prepare one question that you want to discuss during the seminar. Please ad this question to your filed report. Q1: In the literature you find several definitions of SCM. Elaborate and describe what parts that normally are a part of a SCM definition and what its constituents are? Q2: Consider the purchase of a can of soda at a convenience store. Describe the various stages in the supply chain and the different flows involved. Q3: Why should a firm like Dell take into account total supply chain profitability when making decisions? Q4: Consider the supply chain involved when a customer purchases a book at a bookstore. Identify cycles in this supply chain and the location of the push/pull boundary. Compare the purchase with ordering the book from Amazone.com., e.g. how does the cost structure look for different kind of books in different distribution channels?

Literature seminar guide

A few general comments about the papers that you will submit before the seminars. The questions should be answered in pairs and approximately 2-3 pages, depending on the number of questions, approximately -1 page per question The papers must be uploaded on the webpage before the seminar, closing time 15.00 the Sunday before. Register for a group on the webpage, available on Wednesday (it is not allowed to attend another seminar or attend a seminar despite not handed in a paper) Please print your name on every page. Include your family names and initials in the file name (start with your family name, for example - Hultkrantz & Liljestrand, seminar 1.pdf) .pdf files are preferred. Consider your language when you write it has an effect on how the reader evaluates the message. It is not any more work to include a proper referencehandling in your papers! You are expected to be able to do this. A minimum the first time you mention a reference. For those in the need of further clarifications there are instructions on www.chalmers.se on how to handle the matter. It is imperative that you clearly state your opinion on the issues covered, and most importantly the opinions of the references. You will have one week to correct your papers as instructed in the comments on the web page if you are not approved the first time. And finally, it is not the number of words you create to make your point it is your message. Some of you tend to write too much that the focus is lost on the way. I suggest that you read the paper an extra time before you submit them

If you have any questions, please dont hesitate to ask.
