rla Gurudeva: My humble obeisances unto the lotus feet of my transcendental guru, o viupda aottara-ata r rmad Bhakti Prajna Keava Gosvm Mahrja. And also in the lotus feet of my ik-guru, o viupda r rmad Bhaktivednta Swami Mahrja. (pointing to a devotee) You, yourself, you told: nirviea-nyavdi-pctya-dea-trie rla Gurudeva: Uh? More? What is the meaning? Stand up. What is nirvievda and then nyavdi? Padmanbha Mahrja:
ajna-timirndhasya jnjana-alkay caksur unmlita yena tasmai r gurave nama
[O Gurudeva, you are so merciful. I offer my humble prama to you and am praying from the core of my heart that, with the torchlight of divine knowledge, you open my eyes which have been blinded by the darkness of ignorance. r Guru prama]

rla Prabhupda has given us this mantra which describes his mission. To... rla Gurudeva: Who gave this mantra, Prabhupda? Padmanbha Mahrja: Yes. rla Gurudeva: Himself he has... Padmanbha Mahrja: Yes, himself he has written. (Laughter and discussion amongst audience about where this mantra originated.) No? You have given? rla Gurudeva: Any of his most beloved disciples may have given. Anyone can not praise himself never and never. Padmanbha Mahrja: (More discussion) Did he give? (Pradyumna prabhu) I think he gave the idea though. rla Gurudeva: I know that he may have inspired his disciples, but he can not glorify himself. Padmanbha Mahrja: No. rla Gurudeva: So, it is glorification of gurudeva. Padmanbha Mahrja: He gave the idea. rla Gurudeva: He gave the idea then anyone inspired by him, with his words, anyone has (done this). Padmanbha Mahrja: And this describes his mission, particularly (to the) Western world, as the translation was given. And he is delivering these Western countries, delivering them, ctya, and dea, these countries, from nirviea and nyavdi. And nirviea means Myvda, or impersonalism, and nya, which means "zero" or nothingness, is the idea of Buddhism... rla Gurudeva: What is nirvievda? I want to know.

-2-

Padmanbha Mahrja: Nirvievda is the philosophy of advaita vedanta. The idea of Sakarcrya that the absolute truth is without qualities, without form, (indistinct-ll) and that this is the highest aspect of Brahman. rla Gurudeva: What? Again. Again, again clearly. Padmanbha Mahrja: Nirviea is the concept that the highest aspect of the Absolute Truth is His impersonal or featureless, impersonal feature. Without form, name, qualities, or activities personality nirgua Brahman and this is... rla Gurudeva: Has he given any quotation from any Vedas or Upaniads? Sakarcrya? Padmanbha Mahrja: Sakarcrya? He has given prominence to some side mantras like: tat
tvam asi, thou art that, or aha brahmsmi. And he has given an interpretation on those which is not in accordance with the whole picture of vedanta given by Vysadeva and also by Bhagavad-gt.

rla Gurudeva: (indicating a different devotee) Can you explain more? Dmodara Mahrja: So, here is the prama mantra to rla Bhaktivednta Swami Mahrja:
namas te srasvate deve gaura-v-pracrie nirviea-nyavdi-pctya-dea-trie
[Our respectful obeisances unto you, O servant of Sarasvat Gosvm. You are kindly preaching the message of Gaurasundara and delivering the Western countries which are filled with impersonalism and voidism.]

So, namas te, we are giving obeisances to who? srasvate deve. He is a servant of rla Bhaktisiddhnta Sarasvat hkura; and he is doing only one thing: gaura-v-pracrie throughout the world he is preaching the messages and precepts of r Gaurgadeva. Nirviea-nyavdi: So, there are two enemies of bhakti: one is nirviea and one is nyavda. So, not so much difference:
myvdam asac-chstra pracchanna bauddham ucyate mayaiva vihita devi kalau brhmaa-mrtin
[[Lord iva informed goddess Durg, the superintendent of the material world:] In the Age of Kali I take the form of a brhmaa and explain the Vedas through false scriptures in an atheistic way, similar to Buddhist philosophy. CC Madhya (6.182)]

That nyavdi, or Buddhism, is also like Myvd, not so much difference. Only that Buddhism is covered Myvda based on asac-chstra. So, nirviea means that... rla Gurudeva: What are the specialities of nirvievda? Why you don't want? Devotee: So, nirviea... rla Gurudeva: What (does) nyavdi or nirvievdi tell?

-3-

Devotee: So, nir means "without" vie means "specialities." So, that means the Supreme Absolute Truth is nirgua, nirakti, nirkra like this. The Supreme Absolute Truth has no name, no form, no qualities, no akti, no power, no beauty like this. This is nirviea. So, the vaiava cryas have rejected this because it's described like covered atheism. Because those people who say that Bhagavn has no shape, no form, no qualities they are atheistic and they are offenders to those who are Nryaa, His devotees. So, nyavda is a bit like this. It's a covered form of myvd. Just like Buddhism, preached by Buddha, he said, "Oh! The ultimate goal is zero." And Sakarcrya is saying the ultimate goal is nirviea-brahman. So, like zero. The Buddhist they merge into the virage. But the Nirvieavds they merge into the body of the Lord Himself. rla Gurudeva: Thank you. Can you (speak) more? Devotee: When rla Prabhupda came to the Western countries, as well as in India, the most popular philosophy that was being propagated, as so many other yogis have come to the Western countries, was that, "I will give you some mantra and you give me some money and within so many weeks you will become God. I am God. You are God. Everyone is God." So, that is the most predominant feature of Myvda philosophy that rla Prabhupda was trying to defeat, or eradicate, in the Western world. rla Gurudeva: And? More? That God has no...? Devotee: Has no form, has no features, has no attributes... rla Gurudeva: No activity, no power. He can do nothing. So, Caitanya Mahprabhu told: what is the use of that negative Brahma? Who can not have a form, who can not do anything, who can not hear our prayers. No use bogus Brahma. So, He rejected. So, Jva Gosvm rejected all these ideas. tat tvam asi "Oh, you are (that) same Brahma." aha brahmsmi- "I am same Brahma. All are, even grasses, are same Brahma." But he could not answer that, "Why all are here?" Or, "If all are Brahma then why they are repenting, weeping, and suffering. Why (are) they (suffering)? And for whom? If all are Brahma, for whom who you are teaching? Sakarcrya was, whether he was liberated or not. If he was liberated and Brahma then he could not speak; and if he was speaking something to others, then what he was? He was not liberated, he was conditioned soul. So, we don't want to hear his (teachings) because (there is nothing for us) there. So, Mahprabhu rejected all these things. From where this Brahma came? From where it came? So, Mahprabhu told all these things, cut the arguments of Srvabhauma Bhacrya everything from Vedas, Upaniads and everything. So, rla Bhaktivednta Swami Mahrja, my ik-guru, also cut the arguments of nirvieavd. Now in this world, almost all, except vaiavas, all are myvd, nyavdi. So, he helped them to give up their wrong idea, to come to vaiavism and you should chant:
Hare Ka, Hare Ka, Ka Ka, Hare Hare/ Hare Rma, Hare Rma, Rma Rma, Hare Hare

-4-

Come with me to Pur, Jaganntha Pur, near Caitanya Mahprabhu and Haridsa hkur. Oh Caitanya Mahprabhu, His pastimes are more deep than (the) ocean, or anything (else). Having so many meanings, very deep meanings, even more deep than ko-ko, lakhs and lakhs, thousands and thousands of oceans. For what thing, how he is telling, what he is telling, any general person, common person cannot (understand). Even high class of devotees, even they cannot realize. One day Haridsa hkur was there and Caitanya Mahprabhu was asking him, "Oh, Haridsa hkur in this world, there are so many, the world is full of Mohammedans, muslims, and they want to control (the) whole world and to make all (people) Muslims by the help of sword or any how. Those who are not Muslims, they tell them, kafir; kafir means he is against God, so cut them otherwise anyhow by (hook or) crook you should make them Muslims." So, still their policy is there. They don't give honor to other religions. (reference to outside children's noise) One of them you should bring them here. Bring them, one of them. "They don't chant the name of Hare, Ka, Govinda or anyone. They also don't believe in the shape, form, of God. Never. Like myvds. So, is there any process that they should be liberated?" And then what told Haridsa hkur? You remember? Then Haridsa hkur told? Prema Prayojana Prabhu:: r Caitanya Mahprabhu, being very concerned for all the jvas in this world, posed this question to rla Haridsa hkur: How is it that all the jvas, especially they are not chanting or remembering and they are against bhakti, how will they be delivered? So, Haridsa hkur said, "My Lord, You are so kind that you have come into this world in the form of your names. And even those who chant nmbhasa, a semblance of Your names, they are very easily delivered from all their sufferings and sinful reactions. In rmad Bhgavatam it is stated:
sketya prihsya v stobha helanam eva v vaikuha-nma-grahaam aegha-hara vidu
[One who chants the holy name of the Lord is immediately freed from the reactions of unlimited sins, even if he chants indirectly [to indicate something else], jokingly, for musical entertainment, or even neglectfully. This is accepted by all the learned scholars of the scriptures. SB (6.2.14)]

If anyone who chants the name of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, either: 1.) sketya: that means they are not calling God, only they are saying the name of God to indicate something else, 2.) prihsya: they are saying the name of God only like a joke, 3.) stobha: for counting
-5-

beats for musical entertainment, 4.) helanam: they are chanting the name with neglect, neglectfully. Any way they chant the name: vaikuha-nma-grahaam, what will be the result? aeghahara vidu unlimited sinful reactions, more than it is possible to commit, all will be thrown in the ocean." So, these names are very very powerful. Haridsa hkur said, "These Muslims, what do they say? 'Ha ram! Ha ram!'" In this language, this means, "How abominable." In the puras there is a story of a person who was being killed by a boar. And he was saying, "Ha ram! Ha ram! How abominable! How abominable!" He was liberated. So, this is very wonderful. Not only that, but rla Haridsa hkur, he explained, that this name of Ka is so powerful, even if the syllables are separated, they are separated from each other, not hari but "ha," and then some more syllables and then later "ri." Like this. This is called (indistinct) interruption, a break in the syllables, still the name will act, knowingly or unknowingly. And destroy so many sins. So, whether the syllables are connected, whether they are separated, whether it is to indicate God, or whether it is to indicate anything else, the name is so powerful. rla Gurudeva: Thank you. So, Haridsa hkur told, "Once there was a Mohammedan, Muslim, and he was going through a forest, but he felt (he had to) pass stool. Ok? Devotee: Nature's call. rla Gurudeva: Nature's call (laughing). And (jokingly) in India "Internal sva-bathroom." He sat anywhere, in the jungle, and a very powerful boar, boar you know? Seeing him from (a) distance, from (the) backside, and he attacked him. One pointed they run, keeping their eyes closed, and they ran to kill that person. So, the boar attacked from (the) backside and he made it in two pieces. From his teeth sharp teeth. When he attacked, at once he saw that the boar has attacked and he told, "Ha ram! Ha ram!" "Ha ram" means very impure things. They think that a boar is very impure so they call, "Ha ram, Ha ram!" And when he called, "Ha ram!" Ka, like Rma, He was there. He thought, "He is calling Me? I must go and help." And at once He came and gave liberation at once. And he went to Vaikuha-dhma.Unknowingly he did. As impure - he did. So, (the) name is very powerful. If anyone, not knowing the glories of (the holy) name, and if he (is) chanting with respect or disrespect, the fruits of (the) names, certainly he will achieve. But not prema. He will liberated from this world. Up to this. Sometimes he may have wealth of this world. So much wealthy he will be, by name. But if anyone with honor, taking dk, real instance, with relation to Ka, then what will be? If he is under the guidance of any high rasika vaiava, tattva jna, then he will gradually come in rddha, niha, ruci, sakti, and after that he will be liberated and then prema, sneha, mna, praaya, rga, anurga, bhva and mahbhva he will go.

-6-

So, we should try to chant Ka's name in this process. Like Haridsa hkur, continuously. But if anyone can not, even by this (mentioned above) he can achieve liberation. He can can not die. Ka's name will save him. So, try to do (chant the) name in a process. First, be associated with high quailification vaiavas. And then he will give you dk, divya-jna. All knowledge, transcendental knowledge, he will give. And you will be detached from worldly desires. And very soon a tik relationship with Ka will come; that is in our constitutional form. And then gradually, rddha, niha, ruci, and sakti, and after that rati will come. This rati is uddha sattva that I explained yesterday. So, he is telling all these things. Once, Haridsa hkur, anyhow by the wish of Ka, he came to see Raghuntha but he was in the consul of his father. And at that time so many learned persons, brhmaas and all, were assembled there and they were talking about the glories of (the holy) name. One was telling that (the holy) name can give liberation and one was telling that no, never, He can not give liberation. So, both were quarelling. In the meantime Haridsa hkur came and all were standing and they were giving honor to Haridsa hkur. And they asked (him) this same question by which they were struggling. By (the holy) name anyone can achieve liberation or not? Just like this question. Haridsa hkur told very humbly that, "No need of pure name for liberation. By the semblance of (the holy) name anyone can very easily be liberated." Then one brhmaa, Gopal Cakravart, became very angry and he began to challenge Haridsa hkur. All (others) were warning him not to challenge Haridsa hkur he is a high class devotee. But he challenged. Haridsa hkur replied very humbly (but) he (Gopal Cakravart) was telling that, "Name can not give liberation and you are telling nmbhasa can give liberation and if I am true then your nose, by leprosy, will go away. And if I am wrong and you are right then my nose will go away." All became so angry to that person and the father of Raghuntha Dsa Gosvm told that you should go out from our country I have no sympathy for you now. He was paying that person so many lakhs of rupees monthly; but he said, "I have stopped everything; you should go out of my kingdom." And after that, in a couple of days leprosy attacked him. Everywhere leprosy and his nose melted away. Then he became very worried and then he went to Navadvpa - to Apardha bhajana part Apardha bhajana part means? Prema Prayojana Prabhu:: The place where offenses are eradicated. rla Gurudeva: At that time Caitanya Mahprabhu was there. After taking sannysa from ntipur he went to Vndvana and after so many years he was praying to Caitanya Mahprabhu, "I have done wrong. I have done offenses to the feet of a high class vaiava. So, please excuse me." He told, "I can not do anything. You should go to Haridsa hkur, he may do it."

-7-

And then he went and Haridsa hkur was very merciful. He forgave (him). So, Haridsa hkur was a very high class devotee. If you will chant (the holy) name then a power comes, (a) special kind of power, that what you speak it will be true. Certainly, I have (experienced) tested; I have examined this. Once I was chanting (the holy) name and if I am chanting this name and this must be done. And at once it was done. So many times I have examined. So, if you will chant (the holy) name and if you will tell, "Oh, you should die." He (that person) will die. You know Nrada hkur he told to the sons of no Nalakvara and Maigrva that at once you should be a tree. And by the power of this name, wonderful, at once he began to be a tree. Sometimes, Nrada told that, "Oh! You are now dead. Oh! Come on! Come on! Come on! Come on!" And he came back and he began to speak. What is this? This is the power of (the holy) name. Agastya told to the ocean, "Oh you should return back the eggs of this bird." And when he never heard anything then he (breathed in) and, by the power of (the holy) name, he took all of the water and the ocean was dry. So, you can also examine, test, whether it is true or not. You should chant for some years, like Haridsa hkur, like any devotee. And you will see that so much power is coming. Svmji became so powerful that in a couple of years he preached everywhere. Why? Because he was chanting name. And by the power of name and this bhakti all came in his umbrella. Took shelter. Myself also. What I am doing? Only chanting name. By the power. So, don't disbelieve in name. Even money, liberation, anything, very easily you can have by, receive by, this name. So, Haridsa hkur is an example of this. He never wished but even that person challenged him and he became attacked by leprosy. We have seen so many places about Haridsa hkur. Even last night we explained about that prostitute; though she was visiting as a girl, (she was) maybe 16 to 20, only by the grace of Haridsa hkur and she became a very prominent devotee. So, we should try to chant name like this. Not only this, once my herself came to Haridsa hkur one day at night. Quite nirjana, a solitary place, on the side of Ganges, full moon. Very beautiful, she went to Haridsa hkur and prayed that, "In whole world I have seen you most beautiful. And I am also beautiful. You can see. Once you should see me, for a glance." But Haridsa hkur was chanting:
Hare Ka, Hare Ka, Ka Ka, Hare Hare/ Hare Rma, Hare Rma, Rma Rma, Hare Hare

She was whole night with him telling him so many thing. She came three nights. Haridsa hkur told, "You should wait. I am chanting harinma for one ko name." (On the) third day she came, folding hands and she told what (did she say)? "Why may, myself I have cheated Sakara, I have cheated Brahm the creator, Nrada, I have cheated, Gokama, and so many, so many, so many. I can cheat all. But I am defeated by you. I am (the) same my now I am begging your mercy. Be pleased to me. I (want to) received Rma nma but now I want to be initiated by Ka mantra. You should initiate me."

-8-

Then Haridsa hkur, (being) very merciful, he initiated her with Ka nma. Rama nma is (tarak) nma, (tarak) you know? Rma nma is (tarak) Brahm. Anyone, by Rma name, he can be liberated with this (tarak) nma. But Ka name is parakya; parakya means giving braja prema. Though both are same but some speciality. What speciality? Those who will take shelter of Rma they can not be like St, whatever they will be. But Rma, sometimes gives up St. For no reason. For no reason. Even hearing the words of a very bogus washerman, he believed and told that, "Oh you were in the house of Rvaa, so I don't like you. You should go away anywhere you like." And in the last (days), what did Rma, forever, He (renounced) St. He gave up St for whole life. Not rejected. He can not reject. So, He told, "You can go anywhere, now our relation is stopped." And forever, He last and She went where? In the rama of Vlmki. What was the fault of St dev or offence that Rmacandra gave up Her for life? What? Nothing. But He believed in the words of (a) washerman, who had told (Rmacandra) to give up (St). So, if you are chaste, so much chaste, serving Rma, but even He may reject you also. May reject. So, if here but Ka, anyhow even (indistinct) can come and tell that, "Oh I have taken your shelter, please accept." And He will accept. You know Naraksura? He has conquered all the kings of India and he has collected all the beautiful girls and wives of and all the rjyakumrs, princesses. And he wanted to enjoy them all. But anyhow Ka knew from Nrada i and he went and killed him and he told (them the princesses) that, "Now you are independent. You can go to your fathers, your husbands, your daughters, sons, mothers and others. You can go easily. I will arrange for you to go to your homes. Return back." But what they told? "We don't want to go. Noone will accept us because we have been in the house of Naraksura. So, we have taken shelter. You should give me chance to serve your queens. We will broom (sweep) we will cook for them, we will massage them. Anyhow you should give me shelter." Then Ka what did (he do)? He took them all on his (carrying bird) Garua. (At that time) Garua became very big and all he took and went to Dvrak and in separate palaces he married them all like queens. Rma can't keep. Can he marry with anyone? Except St? And He can also reject St. Rma can not do. He also in the last time he left Lakmaa also forever. Very, very, very pathetic all these things. So very easily we will go to Ka.
ye yath m prapadyante ts tathaiva bhajmy aham mama vartmnuvartante manuy prtha sarvaa
[All of themas they surrender unto MeI reward accordingly. Everyone follows My path in all respects, O son of Pth. Bg. (4.11)]

-9-

Oh, Ka has promised, so we should believe in Ka. He has so much promise for us. Ka, in Rma (ll), sometimes He becomes very nihur, cruel. But Ka anyhow to anyone always (He is) very humble and very sweet to all. So, Haridsa hkur is also telling this fact. Gops have told this.
mgayur iva kapndra vivyadhe lubdha-dharm striyam akta-virp str-jita kma-ynm balim api balim attvveayad dhvkavad yas tad alam asita-sakhyair dustyajas tat-kathrtha
[Like a hunter, He cruelly shot the king of the monkeys with arrows. Because He was conquered by a woman, He disfigured another woman who came to Him with lusty desires. And even after consuming the gifts of Bali Mahrja, He bound him up with ropes as if he were a crow. So let us give up all friendship with this dark- complexioned boy, even if we cant give up talking about Him. SB (10.47.17)]

Oh, gops what doing? They are telling to Ka No, to Uddhava gops are telling: "Go and tell Ka, 'We have nothing to have a friendship with Ka. If He can give up us we have given up Him. But what to do? Our heart never gives up. This is the problem. How He is cruel? All blacks are cruel not only this fellow. All black fellows (are cruel)." One black in Tret-yuga he told that, "I am going to obey my father's words. And I am now renounced." But why (did) he take his wife with him? And he went there. A very beautiful lady came and told that, "I want, I love you I want to marry you." Rma told that, "Oh, I have only one wife, this. I can not marry second. Oh, better you should go to my younger brother Lakmaa. Oh, he has no wife." Actually, He said he has no wife but he was married but trickily He told. And then she went to Lakmaa and Lakmaa told, "Do you want to be a queen or do you want to be a maidservant? If you marry me then you will have to be a servant of this Lady because She is my queen. I am servant so you will be servant. And if you want to be a queen you should marry Rma. Rma can have so many wives." Then she again came to Rma but Rma told, "Oh I can not do this; better you should go to my younger brother." Then she was rejected by Rma again came (to) Lakmaa and then came to Rma and thus she was upset. And she wanted to kill St. But Rma cut off her ears and nose. The gops are telling, accusing Rma, "Why he did so? He was lusty. To please his wife he wanted to cut and that is why her nose...Why he cut? He could have humbly told that, 'I can not do this.'" He was cutting joke with that lady and that is why she became furious. He could have rejected (humbly) and said, "Oh, I can not do this. You should go to your husband or anyone." But why did he do so? He was cruel. And third? Vmanadeva. What he did? He took all things. All the possessions of Bali Mahrja. And what did he do? He bound him in a snake rope. And then he was weeping. Anyhow Prahlda Mahrja and Brahm came and said, "What are you doing?" And then He left.
- 10 -

So, all the blacks are like this. But there is some deep meanings. We have no time to describe all these things. So come to our subject. So, Rma nma: Rma (is) for Rma and Rma (is) for Ka. Here in this mah-mantra: Hare Ka and Hare Rma. Hare Rma. Hare (indicates) Rdhik. And Rma (indicates) Rdh-Ramaa Ka is Rma. Same thing. Ka is called Rma. So, Hare Rma (indicates) Rdh-Ka. So, three Rma names are equal to one Ka nma. I am not telling. Who is telling? stra is telling Puras are telling like this. Viu Pura. Three Rma names are equal to (one Ka name) but not that Rma (rather) Rdh-Ramaa name. This Rma nma is equal to Ka. Sometimes more than Ka nma, Rdh-Ramaa. So, there are so many things. So, Haridsa hkur says four qualities:
td api su-ncena taror via sahiun amnin mna-dena krtanya sad hari

["One who thinks himself lover than the grass, who is more tolerant than a tree, and who does not expect personal honor yet is always prepared to give all respect to others can very easily always chant the hold name of the lord"

(di 17.3, Antya 6.239, Antya 20.21)]

td api su-ncena

How he is su-ncena? Any example? Oh, he used to think that, "I am muslim. I am not qualified to go to the temple." He never used to come on the many streets of Jaganntha Pur why?
td api su-ncena

You know he was in ntipur (and) Advaitcrya forcibly took him to his house and wanted to give honor. What honor? That all his relatives were assembled there and it was the rddha day of their forefathers. And he wanted to give the first dish to Haridsa hkur. It was to be given to any high class respected person but Haridsa hkur was brought there and forcibly Advaitcrya gave (it to him). And he began to weep and said, "I am not qualified. I am muslim."

- 11 -

But yet what did Advaitcrya say? "If I give you this offering, this will be the best thing in the whole universe. All of my forefathers will be liberated if you take this." Then all relatives walked out from there and said, "We don't like Advaitcrya. He is out of our caste." He said, "I don't care. You can go. I want bhakti only. Not you. You can go. You are foolish persons." But afterwards again they returned back and they fell flat on the lotus (feet) of Advaitcrya and also to Haridsa hkur. Haridsa hkur is out of caste. Paramahasa. He is more superior than paramahasa. Like Prahlda Mahrja he is so. So, we should try to follow this Haridsa hkur always chanting name.
td api su-ncena taror via sahiun

How? (indicating a devotee in the audience) Can you prove? You, you, you. Can you prove? Prema Prayojana Prabhu: Haridsa hkur was very, very popular and the Muslim king he was thinking, "This Haridsa hkur is giving a very bad reputation to Islam. He was born in a Muslim family, (then) why is he chanting the name of a Hindu god?" So, he called him to his consul. And then he threatened him, "You should not chant the name of Ka anymore. You should be a very good Muslim and chant the name of Allah. If you don't do this then there will be a very severe punishment for you." rla Haridsa hkur he replied:
khaa khaa hai deha yya yadi pra tabu mi vadane n chi harinma
["Even if you cut my body into pieces, I will never give up the chanting of Hari nama." C. B. Adi (6.94)]

You may cut my body into thousands of pieces and I may give up my life; but my tongue can not give up the chanting of this name.
Hare Ka, Hare Ka, Ka Ka, Hare Hare/ Hare Rma, Hare Rma, Rma Rma, Hare Hare

So, then the king he ordered that Haridsa hkur should be beaten in 22 market places. rla Gurudeva: (to someone in audience) Oh, you should hear! What are you counting? Oh, my dear friend, what are you counting? You should hear this class. Better you should give your ears to this hari-kath. What are you counting here? Zero, zero, zero? How many zeros? Oh, you should hear attentively. Don't give your mind here and there.

Prema Prayojana Prabhu: So, then the soldiers they took Haridsa hkur to the marketplace and they had very strong and powerful whips, and they were beating him. Usually, in one market place someone will die. Why? Because the beating is so severe. First the skin breaks. And then it is cut. And then the skin and blood and flesh starts to come off. And they are beating him. One market place, another market place, another market place. Until there was no skin, no flesh, no blood, only bones, even bones were broken. And dragging him. But like a miracle this name was still coming.
Hare Ka, Hare Ka, Ka Ka, Hare Hare/ Hare Rma, Hare Rma, Rma Rma, Hare Hare

They couldn't believe it. And at the same time, while they were beating him, sometimes Haridsa hkur, he would look toward them and smile very compassionately. He would see that they were sweating and sweating from the hard labor of thrashing him and he would say, "Oh I hope that you are not feeling any pain from all this beating." Very, very humble. After some time they became afraid. And they thought, "If he doesn't die, then the king will kill us." And they came to him and said, they revealed this, "The king will kill us if you don't die." Haridsa hkur said, "Oh, I don't want to give any trouble or inconvenience to others. So, now you have told me, oh, I shall die at once." Then he went into a samdhi, trance, and then it seemed he had passed away. So, they took his body and threw it in the Ganges. But the very next moment he came out of the Ganges and his body was strong and healthy again. So, this is the power of harinma. If anyone can chant harinma then, as Lord Brahm has said before. Now Lord Brahm is coming in the form of Haridsa hkur and Prahlda mahrja both. Prahlda mahrja was beaten and put through so many tortures by his father but he never complained or became disturbed. And Lord Brahm, he has said:
tat te nukamp su-samkamo bhujna evtma-kta vipkam hd-vg-vapurbhir vidadhan namas te jveta yo mukti-pade sa dya-bhk
[My dear Lord, one who earnestly waits for You to bestow Your causeless mercy upon him, all the while patiently suffering the reactions of his past misdeeds and offering You respectful obeisances with his heart, words and body, is surely eligible for liberation, for it has become his rightful claim. SB (10.14.8)]

It is only a matter of time, (a) very short time indeed, when a person will attain the shelter of the lotus feet of Ka. What kind of person? That person who, in the midst of all kinds of difficulties, problems, and adverse conditions, he says to himself, "This is not your fault, not your fault, you are not beating me. My own karma is beating me. I have done it myself. This is my fault." And one who very patiently tolerates all difficulties considering himself to be the fault of all problems and at the same time takes shelter, by body, mind, and words, of the lotus feet of

Caitanya Mahprabhu pastimes a devotee like Svarpa Damodara, Rmnanda Rya, ikhi Mhiti, Mdhav-dev, Puarka Vidynidhi. And devotees like Vakrevara Paita, Gopntha crya, Kntha Vipram, Vntha Rya. Moreover, Govinda, Gopla Guru, and all the Gauya bhaktas, like ivnanda Sena, Rghava Paita and Kavicandra was a small boy. Especially Rpa Gosvm, Santana Gosvm, Raghuntha Dsa Gosvm, Haridsa hkur with them Mahprabhu was playing pastimes. So, at that time:

Still that bhaga (waves) is going on. Still. Only those who are fortunate they can take bath in that that flood. What (is the) meaning? in this ----- those who are not taking bath they are what? Very unfortunate. chra means wretched, fallen or so many things. So,
koi-kalpe kabhu tra nhika nistra

If you are not taking bath in that flood of love and affection of Caitanya Mahprabhu then thousands and thousands of births will go in vain. You can not have anything. So, in this human form you are very near to that flood. Oh, nearly only four or five hundred years but still waves are coming. So much. So, try to take bath in this and be very fortunate to have Ka prema. Very easily. We can we are helping you. Svamiji came to help you. (He preached) that, "Give up all these bogus things that you are thinking they can give me happiness. Never and never. Wealth can not give you any happiness. Your all relatives can not give you anything. Your this very high class of house. Having so many facilities any (indistinct) latrine will come. Any (indistinct) your restroom will come; your kitchen room will come; your dish will come; office will come." So, all the facilities, give up all these facilities. They can not give any help. Please chant name like Haridsa hkur and be:
td api su-ncena taror via sahiun amnin mna-dena krtanya sad hari
["One who thinks himself lover than the grass, who is more tolerant than a tree, and who does not expect personal honor yet is always prepared to give all respect to others can very easily always chant the hold name of the lord" (di 17.3, Antya 6.239, Antya 20.21)]

Dont' your wish your mna. Never. Don't try to hear your reputations. And give proper honor to all vaiavas. This is the teachings of Haridsa hkur. We should try to obey him from today. Not today! Just now. And we should chant always, without any interruption:
Hare Ka, Hare Ka, Ka Ka, Hare Hare/ Hare Rma, Hare Rma, Rma Rma, Hare Hare

Oh ( Devotee's name) your song. Your own song. (devotees sing song) Gaura premnande! Hari hari bol!

rla Gurudeva: Oh, one thing more. In the last days of Haridsa hkur Caitanya Mahprabhu used to go daily to him to give His darana with His all associates. Just after morning rati of Jagannthadeva and he used to send so much prasdam, mah-prasdam, for Haridsa hkur through the hands of Govinda, his own servant, or what disciple or what. One day, Govinda took some prasda and went to him but he told, "Today I am feeling very sick." And doing prama he took (a morsel) and he took it and said, "I cannot take prasdam." He became worried and he returned back to Caitanya Mahprabhu and he said, "I went with prasdam to serve him but he said, 'I am feeling some sickness.' I think that he is not feeling well." Mahprabhu (on the) next day with his all associates, Svarpa Damodara, Rmnanda Rya, and all others, He went there and He said to Haridsa hkur, "How are you feeling?" "Oh, I am feeling sick." "What sickness?" "Sickness is that by body I am OK. But I have not completed my chanting name three lakhs. I can not chant. My hands are not moving and I can not. Oh! This is my sickness." Can you try to be like this? We should try to be like this. This is only one that that we have no taste in chanting name and we are not doing. Caitanya Mahprabhu said, "Now you are perfect. No need of chanting so much. As much as you can do you should do." But he told that, "I don't want to live in this world long. I know that very soon You will disappear from this world. I don't want to see this very pathetic scene. I want that I should, my head, should be in Your lap. I will see Your face, Gaura. And I should Gaurga name. And I should chant Gaurga name. ac-nandana Gaura Hari! Gaura Hari! Like this and I want to give up this body." Mahprabhu told him that, "All My all pastimes with you. If no My associates like you, no pastimes. Oh, let Me be alone in this world. I want that you should not go." But he again (and) again requested, "I don't want to see this pathetic scene so please be merciful to me." Then Caitanya Mahprabhu assembled all the (devotees) with Svarpa Damodara, Rmnanda Rya. With so many mdaga and karatlas He began to do parikrama of Haridsa hkur with krtana.
(hari) haraye nama ka ydavya nama ydavya mdhavya keavya nama (1) gopla govinda rma r madhusdana giridhr gopntha madana-mohana (2)

And after that He told the devotees that, "You should go on doing." And He sat near Haridsa hkur. He took the head of Haridsa hkur in His lap and he was telling, only he was seeing towards where? In the mouth of Caitanya Mahprabhu and what (was he) calling? ac-nandana! Gaurahari! Gaurahari! Gaurahari! And he left (his) body at once. Mahprabhu began to weep and all (the) devotees began to weep. So much bitter separation mood. All began to weep. Then Caitanya Mahprabhu took his body in His lap and anyhow from lap He kept in on the chariot. What chariot? As we do in the Indian customs. For Hindus. They made a chariot like this and with, nagasakrtana, they went to (indistinct) on the banks of the ocean. Caitanya Mahprabhu did his samdhi with His own hands and kept Haridsa hkur with harinma chanting with mantra. With Vedic culture that we do. He put tilaka and he gave the mantra here of sannys, mantra there and he put in samdhi. And then all began to put sand on that and then an samdhi mandir was established. Temple already. Now it is permanent. And then Caitanya Mahprabhu told, "Those who were singing there, and those who have done parikrama of Haridsa hkur those who are doing anything, even giving one hand of sand even, and those who are in this festival this is festival of Haridsa hkur, viraha mah-mahaotsava. They collected some dk from Govinda market. All began to give all their stocks but Mahprabhu and Svarpa Damodara told, "We don't want (everything). Very small. From each shopkeeper they took (a small amount). From someone dahl, from someone vegetables, rice etc... and it became sufficient. And Caitanya Mahprabhu Himself began to distribute but Svarpa Damodara all others requested that, "If You are not sitting and not taking then noone else will take." And then he sat and he began to tell:
mah-prasde govinde nma-brahmai vaiave svalpa-puyavat rjan vivso naiva jyate
(Prasda-Sev Caitanya-caritmta, Antya-lila 16.96 (purport) from the Skanda Pura) mah-prasdam k jaya! harinma sakrtana k jaya! rla Haridsa hkur k jaya! Samgata bhakta-vnda k jaya! Gaura premnande! Hari hari bol!
