Volume of a Prism

Volume of a Prism In mathematics, there are different types of prism such as triangular prism, rectangular prism and so on. Here we will proceed to Volume of a Prism. Before learning about Volume of a Prism first it is necessary to learn about a prism. In geometry prism can be defined as a solid object which has two ends identical and all sides of a prism are flat. We can say that prism is a type of a polyhedron. Now we will see how to calculate the volume of a prism. The formula to find the volume of a prism is given by: Volume of a prism = A * L, here A denotes the area of a prism and l denotes the length of a prism. Unit of volume is given as cube. Steps to follow to find the volume of a prism is shown below: Step 1: To find the volume of a prism first of all it is necessary to have the value of area and length of a prism. Suppose we have given the area of prism is 50 inch2 and the length of a prism is 10 inch. Know More About :- Pythagorean Triples List

Step 2: Then we have to put the given values in the formula to find the volume of a prism. As we know that the volume of a prism is given as: Volume of a prism = area * length, Given area = 50 inch2 and length = 10 inch. Put these values in the formula: On putting these value we get: Volume of a prism = area * length, Volume of a prism = 50 * 10, Volume of a prism = 500 inch3. So here we get the volume of a prism is 500 inch3. This is how we can find the volume of a prism. Now we will learn how to find the surface area of a prism. Here we will also follow some steps to find surface area of prism. The formula to find the surface area of a prism is given by: The surface area of a Triangular Prism = 2Base + Perimeter * Height. Surface area = BH + (s1 + s2 + s3) H, here s1, s2, s3 are the three sides of a triangle. Now we will learn how to find the surface area of a triangular prism. Step 1: To find the surface area of a prism first of all we have to calculate the base value of a triangular prism. Step 2: Then after we need to calculate the perimeter of a triangular prism. As we know that the perimeter of a triangular prism given as: perimeter is the addition of all sides of a prism. Step 3: Then after we need to calculate the height of a triangular prism. Step 4: If we have perimeter value, base value and height of a prism then we can easily calculate the surface area of a prism because we required all these values to find the surface area of a prism. If we use these steps properly then we can easily find the surface area of prism. In geometry we will study different types of prism. We will see the Introduction of all these prism in the next chapter.
