Duval County Public Schools Focus Group Candidate Report

Focus Group: _______________ Candidate: __________________ The purpose of the Focus Group is to engage in fact finding and gather information for the Duval County School Board, and issue this report for the Boards deliberations and decision-making; it being understood that none of the three candidates has been ranked, accepted, or rejected by the Focus Group for consideration by the Board. The findings and report of each member of the Focus Group will be assembled and provided in a summary format to the Board for each category below; therefore please indicate your findings by circling the number that best indicates your finding concerning the strength of each candidate in each of the following areas (with 1 being the lowest and 5 being the highest): A. The candidates responses demonstrate that the candidate is someone who: exhibits strong leadership qualities; is a collaborator and team builder with the ability to rally all stakeholders around the districts vision; develops innovative/creative connections and partnerships to support the strategic plan; creates value for students and stakeholders through two-way communication; fosters leadership at all levels while cultivating a learning culture and ethical organization; will fight for the team as a passionate defender of public education in general and DCPS in particular. The candidates responses demonstrate the candidate is someone who: can build and inspire a highly effective team by being a good judge of people in the organization, identifying talent and placing the right people in the right jobs; recognizes and addresses challenges to the achievement of the strategic plan; works to ensure system strategies are effective and sustainable; has high expectations for staff and supports and evaluates their performance; values and supports diversity at all levels; supports teachers and can address district morale. The candidates responses demonstrate the candidate is someone who: demonstrates a commitment to high levels of achievement for all students; identifies correct key measures of student and organizational performance excellence for the strategic plan; has a demonstrated ability to move a large urban district forward; seeks evidence of internal and external stakeholder satisfaction; demonstrates organizational effectiveness by providing evidence of high expectations, organizational learning and staff learning.

NOTE: Brief comments (one or two sentences) may be included on the reverse side of this form. Due to the large number of stakeholders involved, and the quick turnaround necessary, extensive commentary cannot be compiled.
