Accountable to: Headteacher Accountable for: Year 12 & 13 tutors Key Responsibilities:

Christs is an 11-16 Church of England Comprehensive school which will have a sixth form by 2014. It will be the post holders responsibility to work with the leadership team to lead the development, set the ethos and to lead on the development of all aspects of the sixth form. This job description has been written with this in mind and will be reviewed once the sixth form is set up. Accountable for setting the standard of Teaching and Learning in the sixth form Set up a full training programme for teaching and support staff Work with staff to prepare policies and procedures for sixth form teaching What makes outstanding sixth form teaching? Quality assure curriculum plans and preparation Advise on plans for new building Lead on ICT development & provision for sixth form Work with other local providers within the Richmond Post-16 partnership Ensure effective administration systems are set up for sixth form Timetabling to ensure that the curriculum is responsive to needs and aspirations of all learners in sixth form Accountable for the monitoring, care, guidance and support of pupils in the sixth form Set up a pastoral system for sixth form including safeguarding policies and procedures as necessary Plan assessment, marking, monitoring, reporting and examination procedures Train and develop a specialist tutor team for Key Stage 5 Integrate sixth form into the house system and prefect system to promote student leadership Design extracurricular and enrichment programmes for post-16 students Plan social events for pupils Plan study areas and resources to support independent learning Accountable for recruitment of pupils to sixth form Lead on marketing and communication Lead all public sixth form recruitment events Work with the Richmond Post-16 partnership

Produce a recruitment prospectus and information for existing Christ's School pupils as well as external pupils Recruit 60 pupils to sixth form for 2014 Plan transition programme for pupils Accountable for ensuring appropriate and effective information, advice and guidance are set up and successful. Set up careers procedures Set up UCAS application procedures, recruit a member of staff to lead on UCAS, train staff as necessary Set up work experience for Key Stage 5 Build links with local employers and colleagues and universities General Deputise for the Headteacher or Deputy Headteacher when required Support and develop the Christian ethos of the school Promote excellence in all aspects of school life See to the welfare, guidance, attendance and punctuality of the teaching staff Contribute to the decision making, policy formation and strategic planning as a member of the Leadership Team Lead and be accountable for negotiated aspects of the school improvement plan and SEF Work with the LT and Governing Body in identifying, articulating and securing the vision for Christs School Participate fully, and in an informed manner, in the school improvement planning process Direct and develop our strategy so that all students are given every opportunity to succeed

Person Specification Please address the following criteria in your application


1. Qualifications: A good degree UK Qualified Teacher Status A relevant postgraduate qualification (desirable)

2. Experience: - An excellent classroom practitioner across Key Stages 3-5, with current or very recent teaching experience of A level o Please refer to, and evidence, recent lesson observations outstanding pupil progress at A level and GCSE recent professional development - Significant recent experience leading and managing a successful sixth form - Successful experience of achieving school improvement/project management - Significant recent experience of using self-review systems as a tool for school improvement 3. Knowledge and understanding: The ability to contribute to a shared strategic vision for the school The ability to lead a team and work co-operatively and collaboratively Use of data and performance management for benchmarking and setting targets for improvement A commitment to a personalised learning Use of new technologies in learning and teaching as well as management and administration An understanding of, and a commitment to, maintaining staff morale and welfare of individuals and groups of staff An awareness of current legislation and local issues The ability to generate new ideas and developments that benefit students; and to see these ideas through to fruition.
