Fashion in India has experienced a speedy acceleration in the recent past as it has successfully created a world of its own

in the Indian consciousness. Armies of designers and international brands have successfully invaded the Indian fashi on scenario and the Urban Indian today has a variety of designer wear to choose from, each appealing to one s respective fashion sense. Fashion in India has become an area of tremendous interest as Fashion Designers try to create something by incorporating the traditional elements of design prev ailing in India for centuries, fusing it with modern and urban fashion sensibili ties. The umbrella of global fashion has provided shade to the Indian fashion sc ene as creations by Indian fashion designers have found favor amongst the local as well as the International fashion community. The growth of a significant sens e of fashion in India along with Indian Fashion has resulted in India steadily c limbing up the International fashion ladder. The credit for developing an acute sense of fashion in India goes to the team of designers who draw inspiration from both Indian as well as International style of designing. With the gradual emergence of foreign fashion brands penetrating t he Indian market, Indian designers popularized them as well as their own creatio ns which were fusions of both the eastern and western style. In short the Indian citizen had a variety of options to choose from and style became the statement of the day as international, local and fusion of designs were available, ready t o adorn and make the Indian citizen an epitome of a fashionable being. It is often asked that given India s length and breadth as a nation, how is it possi ble to appeal to all corners of the country from a fashion point of view? Pure Western fashion has also not been left behind as Jeans, T-shirts an d a variety of casual wear has appealed to the Indian youth and designers too ha ve been inspired by their international colleagues to design casual clothes so t hat India remains a name to reckon with in the global fashion community. The dev eloping sense of fashion, inspiration from national and international fashion de signers, the availability of a wide range of fashion wear and the increasing int erest amongst the young ones to take up fashion as a career has contributed to I ndia s emergence as a nation gradually making a mark in international fashion. The intelligence of aspiring and present Indian fashion designers must be lauded as they have provided us with a variety of options to choose from when it comes to developing our fashion consciousness. Indo-Western fusion or standalone Indi an and Western clothes have all contributed to the elevation of India as a fashi on loving and fashion culture preserving nation.
