This extended degree provides an intensive preparatory or Foundation year
before you progress onto the BA Architecture (RIBA Part 1) or BA Interior
Architecture and Design at London Metropolitan University. This initial year
introduces a broad range of design skills and techniques, and outlines ways
of thinking about design and the ideas that inform Architecture and Interior
Design.
You undertake a range of challenging, diverse projects that develop your
skills and knowledge through drawing, photography, flm, model making and
installations. Taking an exciting and imaginative approach to design and
culture today, the course helps you to establish your design focus and to
learn relevant technical skills. We help you develop your portfolio of work
and develop your potential, in order to achieve a place on your chosen
Honours degree.
Those who successfully complete the course, and have a substantial
portfolio of high quality work will then move to the frst year (Level 4) of a
degree in either Architecture, Interior Architecture or Interior Design within
our Faculty. You can also choose to change pathway and join one of the
many other BA courses offered within the Cass Faculty of Art, Architecture
and Design.

Location
London is amazing. It is a truly
24-hour city, full of history,
with an incredible choice of
entertainment.
London is the largest city in Europe. It has more
international visitors per year than any other
capital city, and is one of the fnancial centres
of the world. Brimming with history, London
offers students an unrivalled choice of culture,
nightlife and entertainment. London Mets
buildings are dotted around London but we
have two principle campuses.
City Campus
Our City campus has a prime location in the
heart of the City of London and the vibrant
Aldgate area of east London. Artists and
professionals rub shoulders in this unique
and exciting part of the capital.
North Campus
Our North London campus in Islington sits
within a multicultural community, full of lively
bars, beautiful parks and independent shops.
Our main campus sits alongside the Emirates
Stadium, which as football fans will know, is the
home to Premiership football team Arsenal.
Its hard to know where to start
with London, but how about this?
_ Around 8 million people, over 300
languages spoken
_ 3,000 open spaces and 149 parks
_ Around 6,000 restaurants,
3,000 cafs and 4,000 pubs
_ An estimated 32,000 music
performances and 200 festivals
held in London every year
_ 4 world heritage sites, over 150 ancient
monuments and around 240 museums

I chose London because its

such a multicultural city and
also because advertising, the
subject I studied, was born in
Britain and continues to be
revolutionised here.
Gaurav Dhakad:
MA Mass Communications,
2005; founder, Indian
advertising agency
