cleaner to clean the Roof fabric. 14. Never use Baby Wipes or Upholstery cleaners or Cloth Detergents on pure leather seats. Try a good Leather cleaning solution. You can also use mild soap foam to clean the leathers followed by a conditioner.

15. Do not use Hair/Baby shampoo to wash the car. Wash the car only with specialized car shampoos. Do not Wash or Wax your car under the sun light. Avoid using bore/well water. 16. Wash and Wax your car as much as possible, but never go for any paint protection treatments like Teflon, 3M or PTFE. Also avoid rubbing & polishing the car unnecessarily. 17. As an alternative to the expensive and often strong smelling car fresheners, an unwrapped bar of your favorite bathing soap placed under the seat will keep your car smelling fresh. 18. If something starts squeaking or needs lubrication when you are on the road, you can use the engine dip stick to apply small quantities of oil to hard to reach places. Just remember to clean the dipstick before replacing back into the engine. 19. There are times when the drive belts (a/c, fan, etc) start to slip around the pulley and make a squeaking sound. This could be because they have become too hard or are nearing the end of their useful lives. If you just can't drive with those irritating squeaks, open the bonnet and empty the contents of your favorite soft drink over the belt. The sugary liquid will make the belt sticky and stop it from slipping for a while. But make sure the engine is switched off when you do this, or your soft drink will be all over you. 20. Use a separate cloth for the body, plastics, leather and for the wheels/tyres. The yellow/brown shade cloth that you get at traffic signals is useless. Instead, buy the other cloth (mostly blue) that has a typical Indian towel feel. Dip that new cloth in boiling water with detergent to get rid of unwanted starch and lint. This will also help it to become softer. If possible, prefer a microfiber cloth for Car wash purposes. 21. Wiper blades can become dull and unevenly worn after some time. They then leave streaks of water and marks on the windscreen. To make wiper blades smooth and even again, simply wet sand them with 800 or higher grade sand or polish paper. Not only will the life of the blades be extended, but the windscreen will be cleaner too. 22. If you do lots of driving on the highway, especially in the monsoons, you will have surely suffered due to a windscreen coated with muck and the stubborn oily deposits that gets discharged from the thousands of diesel burning trucks you follow of pass. Even the best of windscreen washer fluids find it difficult to clear the glass of this sticky and oily layer. You can aid their cause by adding a cap full of Vodka to the windscreen washer bottle. Gin / Sprit or any other white liquor will also do, as the Alcohol within them is a good cleaning solvent for oily and sticky substances. 23. Another good method of cleaning a windscreen smeared with dift and muck is to use a soft tissue paper or NewsPaper. Splat the windscreen with water and wipe it dry with the tissue paper. Never use Newspaper on dry windscreen. 24. Black molded bumpers, side molding, etc often turn grey. There are many colour restoration products that have shown up in the market, but your humble shoe polish, the liquid type with the applicator on top, works well. Wash and dry the bumper and then apply the shoe polish liberally and let it dry. Wipe off the excess with a cloth and you will be amazed at how well the polish works. Do not try if your bumpers are not black in color. 25. For emergency repair of punctured tubeless tyres, have the tyre taken off the wheel by a regular puncture shop guy, and have the object responsible for the puncture removed. Then all he has to do is cut off the fixed rubber nozzle or tyre valve for inflating fixed on the wheel and slip in the tube and inflate it like it is done on regular tube tyres. Your tubeless tyre will now run with a tube as long as you want it to. 26. PB Blaster/WD40 is one of the essential products you should keep in the car always. Use it whenever you are running out of lubrication something like door joints, electrical wirings, pulleys, wheel hub, steering rods, rusted bolts etc. But never use it on Rubber and Plastic parts and remember that a Penetrating Oil is not a permanent solution for any problem.

27. If you have broken something, try to FeviKwik first before replacing it. It may do Wonders. 28. To make your tyres to shine, Clean the tyres and then Mix Glycerin(not Vasoline) with water and apply to the tyres. 29. If you're around when birds do their thing, immediately remove the goo using moistened newspaper/cloth. If guano is left to dry - even though it comes off during regular wash, it would have left a noticeable discoloration of that area which is difficult to treat. 30. To remove the sticker residue, try a Penetrant or Naptha or Nail polish remover. 31. If your wiper or A/C doesnt work while raining, buy some raw tobacco and rub it in the windshield. It will not allow the water to stay on the glass. You can also try the tobacco from cigarettes. 32. Do not use any Acids/White powder to remove the rust from alloy wheels or hubs. Protect the alloy wheels and Hubs from rust by applying a good car Wax on them regularly. 33. Do not use Vim or any detergent to flush the Radiator coolant. Use dedicated radiator flush agents or you will loose your water pump. 34. If battery terminals got white deposits, use a wire brush to whisk off deposits, then clean the entire battery with a mixture of 2 teaspoons baking soda and 0.5 liter of water. After cleaning apply Vaseline/petroleum jelly in terminals to protect them. 35. Lubricate door hinges, bonnet lever and door locks using silicone based grease at least once a year.
