The market environment and what Heidelberg expects from drupa Ladies and Gentlemen, once again Id like to welcome you all to Dusseldorf, this time on behalf of Heidelberg. Discover HEI is our motto for the trade show and I can promise you that it is well worth spending time to discover and explore Heidelberg at drupa 2012.

As I have already mentioned, global print volumes are stable. The ratio between online media and print media has found a balance. The upcoming drupa trade show is another outstanding opportunity for the sector to get back on its feet and go for growth, and it will doubtlessly provide the industry with fresh inspiration and drive. After all, printing does have a future and there are still promising growth areas in our sector. Most suppliers on the market have the chance to profit from this growth. What they need to do now, is seize that opportunity.

That is why Heidelberg is bringing a positive outlook to the trade show. Both our company and our customers will benefit from our involvement in drupa. The market recovery will continue and consolidation in the sector will work to our advantage. We anticipate that many visitors from the emerging markets particularly China and Brazil will be keenly interested in the innovations we are showcasing at drupa and are willing to invest. At the same time, there are also indications that investment in our sector is once again picking up in the USA. The investment bottleneck is finally starting to clear. That is why we expect our customers to increase their investment levels and thereby boost our order books considerably. Heidelberg is well positioned and ready to meet our customers needs. Over recent years, we have worked hard under very difficult conditions to extend our technology leadership so that we can offer effective support for our customers business models. The results will be clear for all to see at drupa.

The concept behind the drupa presentation Essentially, we are building five different fully integrated print shops in Dsseldorf, in Hall 1. Heidelberg will again be the largest exhibitor at the trade show, and I promise you that the exhibits will be impressive. Hall 2, meanwhile, will be home to many of our most important partner companies, who will be presenting portfolios that complement our solutions perfectly.

Our trade show presentation guides visitors through five different and highly promising business models for commercial and packaging printing. Heidelberg is gearing its portfolio to the megatrends that are shaping our industry. In other words, the solutions we are showcasing provide answers for the headline issues in todays print media sector: Green printing (HEI Eco), lean print production (HEI Productivity), web-to-print (HEI Integration), short-run-printing (HEI Flexibility), differentiation through coating and special effects (HEI Emotion), future in packaging printing (HEI End), and gaining an edge through know-how (HEI School).

Our entire trade show presentation is also climate-neutral, thereby emphasizing that economy and ecology go hand in hand for Heidelberg just as they do for our customers.

Overview of drupa portfolio As a leading international solutions provider for professional printers, Heidelberg is bringing around 60 equipment and service innovations to drupa, with something for everyone who wants to develop and grow in the current market environment. Heidelberg is offering new equipment solutions that are geared primarily to the new market conditions. They focus on the growth segments of our industry, such as packaging printing and digital printing, but the crucial areas of commercial printing are also covered. For example, we are presenting a new machine platform in the form of the Speedmaster SX series, which covers everything from the small format to the 70 x 100 cm (or 27.56 x 39.37 in) format and represents a new dimension in the competitive landscape. Furthermore, we are also extending our digital printing portfolio. One year ago, we announced our partnership with Ricoh. The global roll-out of this collaboration is now virtually complete and we have already sold around 60 systems. As a result, we are well in line with our plans. Whats more, we have announced the next stage in this partnership, which will see Ricoh digital presses integrated into our portfolio and equipped with our Prinect software to offer customers added value. That will happen in time for drupa and we are also going one step further: In the future, there will be one product line namely Linoprint for all our digital print solutions in commercial AND packaging printing. Starting from drupa, Heidelberg will be offering the Ricoh digital printing press systems as Linoprint C models with the new Prinect Digital Print Manager. There will also be a Linoprint L range of models

for digital packaging printing. These are based on technologies developed by CSAT GmbH, which we took over in summer 2011.

My colleague Stephan Plenz will tell you a more about this in his presentation. Another focal point is our comprehensive presentation in the services segment. This underlines the fact that we see ourselves as our customers partner we want to generate added value for customers that extends beyond printing alone. To this end, we launched a number of new products in December last year. For example, we have extended our range of consulting services to focus on improved energy efficiency in print shops.

New service contracts also ensure that customers with a range of business models can achieve high productivity and machine availability.

Extended Prinect functions offer highly productive and versatile solutions for growth segments in the print media industry (Prinect Business Manager, Prinect W2P Manager, Prinect Digital Print Manager, and Prinect Packaging Workflow).

We are also expanding our range of Heidelberg Saphira consumables, particularly in the field of environmentally friendly products (Saphira Eco line). Some print shops have already taken the step of switching operations over to run entirely on green consumables from the Saphira range. We will also be adding a number of innovations to our postpress range at Dsseldorf an area that contributes a significant share of a print products added value.

Summary As you can see, Ladies and Gentlemen, it is worthwhile coming along to drupa and, in particular, paying a visit to the Heidelberg booth. We have been working hard for our customers and have invested heavily in new products. We will be standing at the ready, with a comprehensive range of integrated solutions that will enable our customers to stay successful, even in a climate where market requirements change rapidly. Heidelberg is an unrivaled solutions provider and can claim to be at the forefront of every segment in its portfolio. Thats why you need to... 4/5
