E. SUMMARY Molality of a substance affect its freezing point. The greater molality of a substance, the lower its freezing point. Amount of molality of a substance is determined by the type of substance. Substances that have a relative molecular mass (Mr) causing the amount of the bonds between the molecules of the substance is so hard to freeze (low freezing point). F. QUESTION 1. How is the Freezing Point being compare with the freezing point pure solvent? (higher, lower, equal) Answer: Lower 2. What is the influence of molality of urea solution to: a. Freezing Point of solution? Answer: the higher molality, the lower Freezing Point of urea solution. b. The decrease of Freezing Point solution? Answer: the higher molality, the higher of the decrease of Freezing Point solution. 3. What is the influence of molality of NaCl solution to: a. Freezing Point of solution? Answer: The greater of the molality of NaCl, the lower its freezing point. However, based on experimental results obtained that the freezing point of 1 molal NaCl solution is lower than 2 molal NaCl solution. These results are inappropriate as in accordance with the prevailing theory. Based on the analysis, some things that can affect are : Cooling medium in the form of ice that is not a constant temperature because of the longer, more melting so that the amount of ice is less than before Determination of the volume of NaCl solution that does not use measuring cups, but with the tube so as to ensure 1 molal volume of NaCl is different with 2 molal solution of NaCl. Volume of the solution affect the bond strength between molecules b. The decrease of Freezing Point solution? 2

Answer: At different NaCl molality freezing point depression resulting different. At 2 molal solution of NaCl decreased freezing point greater than 1 molal NaCl solution. Thus, the greater the molality NaCl solution, the greater the decrease in its freezing point. 4. At the same condition of molality, what is the influence of NaCl (electrolyte) compare with the influence of urea (non electrolyte): a. Freezing Point of solution? Answer: Molality NaCl and urea solution has the same effect on the melting points of each. The greater the molality of NaCl and urea solution, the lower its freezing point. However, at the same molality, freezing point of NaCl is different from the freezing point of urea solution. NaCl solution the freezing point is lower than the urea solution. b. The decrease of Freezing Point solution? What caused the different? Answer: At the same molality, freezing point depression is different NaCl solution with a solution of urea. This is due to NaCl solution capable to ioning (electrolytes) that it is hard to freeze because it has a strong attractive forces. While the solution of urea, can not ioning (non-electrolyte). Thus, the freezing point depression of NaCl solution is greater than the urea solution.
