One outstanding trait that Japanese children have acquired is the respect for authority. The childs early acceptance of the mothers word as law in the house blends smoothly into the latter acceptance of authority in school. As a result, a lifelong tendency for the child to accept the values of Japanese society as a whole is instilled.
