Wire ladder

The triple ladder is widely used at a variety of disaster sites because it is useful to fire-fighting and rescue activities. It is convenient for attacking an upper story or low place as well as for going on a roof. The triple ladder features relatively light weight, simple height adjustment, and easy handling, making it indispensable to fire-fighting activities. In general, a fire engine is always equipped with a triple ladder.

[Structure] 1. Material The triple ladder is made from titanium, aluminum, steel pipes, or stainless steel. 2. Performance and specifications The length is about three meters in the contracted state and about 8.7 meters in the extended state. Three parts (first, second, and third) are linked to each other. To adjust the length, pull the lanyard to extend the ladder and latch it at the desired position.

[Handling procedures and precautions] 1. Conveyance

(1) Two members carry the ladder while paying attention to the surroundings. (2) The carriers shoulder the respective far ends with the base pointed forward.

2.

Extending, contracting, or setting the ladder

(1) Select as firm and flat ground as possible on which to place the base. (2) Do not set up the ladder against a burning part. Be sure to check the strength of a building against which the ladder is to be set. (3) The holder and handler cover their faces with goggles or the shields of their fireproof helmets and pay attention to fallen matter. (4) The two members work together to extend or contract the ladder vertically. (5) The holder grasps the handle securely and places one foot on the lowest rung to hold the ladder. (6) The handler places one foot on the base, and pulls the lanyard straight down to extend or contract the ladder while taking care to prevent it from falling down. (7) After extending the ladder, the handler latches it securely, stretches the lanyard to remove slack, and ties it to a rung of the first ladder.

(8) When setting up the ladder against a building, both members pay attention to the upper part and do not extend it quickly. (9) When adjusting the setup position slightly, the members move to the respective sides of the ladder, first modify the top position, and then change the base position. After this, the holder quickly returns to the holding posture and checks the latch.

(10) As a rule, the setting angle is 75 degrees with respect to the ground, because this gives the highest strength to the ladder. 3. Climbing up or down the ladder

(1) The holder grasps the handle and places one foot on the lowest rung to hold the ladder securely. (2) The attacker climbs up step by step while grasping the rungs (3-point support) or climbs down in the same fashion. 4. Attack

(1) When attacking the building, the attacker checks the footing and does not jump to the ladder. (2) After attacking, the attacker ties the ladder to a support to prevent it from falling down.

5.

Work posture

When working on the ladder, hang one knee on a rung and assume a work posture.

[Applications of the triple ladder] 1. Extending the ladder on a vehicle

2. Attacking a low place (reverse extension)
