Faithful Citizenship Quote

"We believe that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is a "Gospel of life." We cannot simultaneously commit ourselves to human rights and progress while eliminating or marginalizing the weakest among us. Nor can we practice the Gospel of life only as a private piety. American Catholics must live it vigorously and publicly, as a matter of national leadership and witness, or we will not live it at all" (US Bishops, Living the Gospel of Life, 1998, n. 20).

Prayer for the New Evangelization

Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. But how can they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how can they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone to preach? And how can people preach unless they are sent? Romans 10: 13-15 Heavenly Father, Pour forth your Holy Spirit to inspire me with these words from Holy Scripture. Stir in my soul the desire to renew my faith and deepen my relationship with your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ so that I might truly believe in and live the Good News. Open my heart to hear the Gospel and grant me the confidence to proclaim the Good News to others. Pour out your Spirit, so that I might be strengthened to go forth and witness to the Gospel in my everyday life through my words and actions. In moments of hesitation, remind me: If not me, then who will proclaim the Gospel? If not now, then when will the Gospel be proclaimed? If not the truth of the Gospel, then what shall I proclaim? God, our Father, I pray that through the Holy Spirit I might hear the call of the New Evangelization to deepen my faith, grow in confidence to proclaim the Gospel and boldly witness to the saving grace of your Son, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

CD of the Month Club

If we are to be followers of Jesus Christ, we need to be continually learning about the faith and growing spiritually. Catechesis, the process of Faith education, doesnt stop at Confirmation or High School graduation, but is a life-long process. To aid in this process, the parish is making available the Lighthouse Catholic Media CD of the Month Club. Every month, a new talk or audiobook excerpt is released. Not only is the current months CD available - The Best Way to Live by Matthew Kelly - but a number of previous months CDs can be picked up as well. Each CD averages about 1 hour long, and is filled with great Catholic teaching, uplifting stories, and excellent speakers. Theyre great in the car, working around home, or anywhere you have a CD player! Theyre also excellent resources whenever someone has a question about a teaching of the Catholic Faith. If you or someone you know wants to learn more about the Catholic Faith, or if questions come up, pick one up today!

Mass Intentions
As Catholics, we have a long tradition of having Masses celebrated for those we wish to offer up in prayer. The Mass is the ultimate form of prayer, and each Mass is celebrated for an intention. Please consider having Masses celebrated for family and friends on special occasions and anniversaries, as well as those who are in need of prayers. Masses are also encouraged in memory of those loved ones who have died, especially on the anniversaries of their deaths. Contact Fr. Cory for more information!

A Family Prayer for the Year of Faith

O God our Father, in Jesus you call all Christian families and homes to be signs of living faith. By the light of the Holy Spirit, lead us to be thankful for the gift of faith, and by that gift may we grow in our relationship with Jesus, your Son, and be confident witnesses to Christian hope and joy to all we meet. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Stewardship and Development

Stewardship Thought: Todays passage from the Book of Wisdom teaches us that the spirit of wisdom is more precious than gold or silver. This theme is repeated in St. Marks Gospel where Jesus makes clear to the rich man that if he wants to be Christs disciple, he must obey Gods commandments as well as sell all that he has and give it to the poor. For the rich man, this is too much to ask and he walks away sadly. This is a radical Gospel and in complete contrast to todays materialistic culture. The Letter to the Hebrews also reminds us that we must render an account to God of our stewardship of His blessings. If we were the rich man, how would we respond to Christs challenge? Are we willing to sacrifice a portion of our income to the Lord through giving to the Church and those in need? Development Thought: If you knew you could make a gift to our parish or our diocese largely out of what you may pay in federal or state income tax dollars anyway for 2012, would you be interested in learning more? Judy Held, Director of Stewardship and Development for the Diocese, can show you how you can redirect your taxes to help our church. You may contact Judy at (800) 332-9998 or at stewardship@dioceseofgfb.org. God bless you for your stewardship!

Opening Masses for Year of Faith

With Apostolic Letter of Pope Benedict XVI on October 11, 2011, Porta Fidei, the Pope declared a Year of Faith beginning on October 11th and concluding with the Feast of Christ the King on November 24, 2013. The Year of Faith coincides with the anniversaries of two great events that have marked the life of the Church in our time: the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council and the 20th anniversary of the promulgation of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. The Diocese of Great Falls-Billings will participate in the opening of the Year of Faith with the celebration of Mass in each of the five Vicariates of the Diocese. Bishop Warfel will celebrate Mass on October 15 @ 7:00 PM at St. Jude Thaddeus Parish in Havre. The faithful in all the parishes within each Vicariate are invited to participate in these Masses. I want to encourage everyone to join in a pilgrimage to Havre on Monday, October 15th, to start this great Year of Faith! This upcoming Year will be a powerful opportunity to grow closer to Christ through our Faith. Watch for more info coming soon! - Fr. Cory

^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+^+ WHY take YOUR KIDS to MASS.

Sunday Mass is a gift you can give your family every week.
In the hectic pace of a busy family, getting to Mass on Sunday can be a struggle. Between soccer games and scout meetings, dance lessons and play dates, going to Mass is one more activity competing for precious time. Yet it is the most IMPORTANT thing you can do for your family all week.

WHY????? You ask.

Consider some of the ways your children benefit from weekly Mass.

Tradition and Security

How many things do you still do today that youve done since you were a small child? No matter what other changes takes place in their lives, the Mass is a constant to which your children can cling.

learn Children learn by repetition, through consistency and from example.

When Sunday Mass is part of their regular routine, children learn how to maintain the habit of weekly attendance. Seeing the importance

you place on the habit teaches them obedience and discipline.

Visiting the rest of the family, When in church, our children are surrounded by the Body of Christ.people who care about them and pray for them. Mass becomes

an oasis in an increasingly hostile world.

The week starts with a GOD CENTERED focus.

Attending Mass at the beginning of the week helps children learn

that God comes first on Sunday and every day.

THANKS to all who helped with the very successful night with Gabe Murfitt. It was beautiful and awesome! We are blessed!
