At the age of nine he was already known as a contemplative person, spending much time alone, meditating in the desert upon the beauty of nature and the wonders of creation. He thought often of the meaning of human life and was aware of the noble nature which man carries within himself, if only he were to become aware of this inner and elemental nature. Even before the advent of Islam, he exhibited a purity of character, a sense of honesty and such trustworthiness that he came to be known as Al-Amin the trusted one. To contemplate on Muhammads (S) life, virtues and achievements is to realize not only the greatness of Gods power and that of his prophets, but also the fact that mankind as a whole lives so much below the level of the really human. There is practically no aspect of human life which the Prophet(S) of Islam did not guide or illuminate the world with. As a teacher the Prophet (S) was eminently successful in imparting knowledge of different orders to very different types of people. His sayings and acts, his thoughts and deeds still teach all those who are in quest of knowledge. Glimpse of some of his teachings : He taught parental respect, caring and upbringing of children, merit of the girl child, the treatment of orphans, the emphasis on education and seeking knowledge from the Cradle to the Grave, Obedience to God, Duty of the young, Helping the old and the ill, Paying the laborer his wages before his perspiration dries up. He left behind the glorious Quran and his explicit Descendants for all to emulate the Prophet and to keep the torch of Islam alive. In the words of Imam Ali Tread the course of the Prophet for it is the most distinguished course. Follow the way (sunnah) of the Prophet for it is the most right of all behaviors. Teaching of the Holy Prophet: Forgive him who wrongs you; Join him who cuts you off; Do good to him who does evil to you; And speak the truth even if it be against yourself. Muhammad (S)
