Elaborating Events We would like to offer you the opportunity to be involved in our hallmark event for Ireland, The Really Really Free Market and Festival! (RRFM) This local community involvement event will be held at Outlands College, Stillorgan on 17/03/2012. The RRFM will be aimed at anyone in the local community, including families, schoolchildren, local businesses, students, the elderly, the unemployed, the disabled or anyone at all. We are seeking 2400 in funding to launch our RRFM with a bang.

Who We Are
Elaborating Events was created 2011 by Ciaran Henderson and his highly motivated and enthusiastic team, which consists of 5 event management students from DIT and was formed to hold an event as part of their event management course. This team has many diverse strengths with each member specializing in a specific area of event management. His team has worked on many previous projects that have turned out to be a great success both in monetary terms and how the event ran.

Event Concept
What is a Really Really Free Market? It is a bringing together of individuals in an open public space who establish a temporary Free Market and form a gift economy to share both goods and services such as- unwanted possessions, skills, talents, music, art, food, conversation and whatever else you can share. There is a large emphasis on the bringing together of the local community and the sharing of resources & skills as a community in order to encourage reusing and recycling. The RRFM originated in the USA, outside the G8 summit in 2004 during anti-globalization protests as a way of rebelling against commercialisation. Since its first concept the idea has gathered huge momentum in the USA with many towns and cities holding regular monthly RRFMs. The idea has only started to spread to countries outside the USA and we want to take hold of this opportunity in our own unique way. We will be promoting this with the angle of beating the recession by making connections with neighbours, pulling together and improving community spirit while receiving something useful in return. We will also be having a few twists to the usual way this event is run.

Our Twist
Traditionally at a RRFM it is entirely free, however there is a charity that our team feels very passionate about and would like to try and fundraise a token amount of money for The Ross Nugent Foundation in our market area and to raise the awareness of the charity.
The objectives of the Ross Nugent Foundation are based on Ross's promise and we are focused on fulfilling our goal. With your generosity and support, we promise to bring some comfort to other patients in Ross's name. The Foundation is also determined to raise awareness of Ewings Sarcoma, a rare form of cancer

Tickets
The whole event will have free attendance and the market area will contain marquees in which people can display the items they brought along, but they may also offer any service/skills they may have, such as hairdressing, makeup, face painting, nail painting etc. However attendees will have to trade a ticket to take an item or to avail of one of the services on offer. We plan to sell a strip of 5 tickets for a cost of 2 (40c per ticket), with all proceeds going towards the Ross Nugent Foundation. Each ticket can then be exchanged in the market for any item or service the person wishes, the person who provides the item/service now retains said ticket for themselves which they in turn can exchange an item/service or retain until the end of the event. At the end of the event we will be having a huge raffle with all the tickets for prizes that will be sponsored by local businesses, crafts people and artists. With this system each item/service will cost 40c and attendees who bring items and do not find something they want, or do not use all their tickets will have a higher chance of winning prizes in the raffle.

Festival
We will also be incorporating a festival atmosphere to our event thanks to The-OpenMic.com; this Organization specializes in promoting and staging all types of up-and-coming Irish musicians and they have agreed to provide acts and their expertise for the event on a voluntary basis. They also have connections with Music-Maker in Dublin, who have provided them with staging equipment in the past and will be able to secure some of the equipment for our staging area. To add to the festival atmosphere we also want the Ninja Fairies perform at our event. This is a fire/juggling troop who have just recently formed and are becoming increasingly popular. They have a wide range of entertaining talents and also create a theatrical ambiance at any event they attend as they create a constant fun & vibrant presence, even outside of their performing. They have also agreed to perform on a voluntary basis as they are very passionate about performing and love the concept of the RRFM.

Childrens area
This would include a section of the market dedicated to childrens items such as toys, books, baby care equipment etc. We feel this would be especially useful for families expecting their first child as they could save a lot of money. We would also like to incorporate a childrens fun/play area into our event with entertainment such as bouncy castles, slides, games, face painting & performers.

Preliminary Event Plan

VenueOatlands College, Have agreed to host our event free of charge. They have ample space with a full sized football pitch (5,000Sqm), to set up a large outdoor event. They have also agreed to let us use their sports hall (4,200Sqm) in the case of bad weather, and their car park can hold up to 50 cars.

StaffEveryone working on this project is doing so on a voluntary basis. Our team members have each been assigned specific roles for this event and our volunteer co-ordinator has secured 10 volunteers, all of which are 1st year event management students in DIT. The volunteers will be helping in the promotion prior to the event and to help ensure the event runs smoothly on the day.

Our aims
Instil a positive feeling of community spirit in the local area by bringing people together. To create support for local businesses and bring them closer. To encourage recycling, reusing and sharing within the community. To raise funds and awareness for the Ross Nugent Foundation. To ensure all attendees take something positive from the event. To establish this as an event that occurs on a regular basis.

The main aim of our event is to bring the local area closer, create new connections and instil a feeling of community spirit both during and after the event. We are harassed on a daily basis by advertisements, phone calls and people in the street as they attempt to make us donate, that it creates a negative attitude towards donations. We hope to put the positive feeling of voluntarily giving, back into charity. We hope by involving the local businesses that it will give them a chance to show they give a little back and care about their customers, this will hopefully boost their customer base and encourage the community to support their local businesses. In return they lend our event advertising through their businesses and provide us with prizes for our raffle. By providing prizes relevant to their shops products they could also boost their business by gaining new customers who, otherwise, may have never purchased in their particular shop. By encouraging the recycling and reusing of goods this will cut down on the amount of waste produced by the community leading to minimising the environmental damage caused, saving people money and (hopefully) making people understand their possessions and skills have value to someone and by making essential links within the community, through events like this, these possessions can reach the correct people and make a difference in peoples lives. We hope by having such a large start to our RRFM that it will establish roots in the local area becoming a monthly or bi-monthly event and grow organically with every succession attracting a larger attendance and creating stronger bonds within the community. We can imagine it expanding in the future to hold free workshops, seminars, talks, classes and much more. We believe our aims for this event synchronise perfectly with your mission statement; The mission of The Ireland Funds is to be the largest worldwide network of people of Irish ancestry and friends of Ireland dedicated to raising funds to support programs of peace and reconciliation, arts and culture, education and community development throughout the island of Ireland Page 5

Calculated Budget
We estimate a total costs for our event amounts to 2400. Any monies raised during the event will be donated directly to The Ross Nugent Foundation. Any monies left over will either be retained for the next event if there is sufficient interest, or donated directly to the Ross Nugent Foundation.

The-Open-Mic.com have agreed to provide their contacts and their expertise for the event on a voluntary basis however they requested their travel, food and set up costs be covered which is estimated to be 200. The-Open-Mic.com can source any musical instruments, speakers and microphones we require for free. However they cannot source a physical stage or PA system for free, but have confirmed a discounted price of 350. The Ninja Faeries have confirmed the date and agreed to perform at our venue for free, however they requested their out of pocket expenses to be covered. They have to travel approximately 4.5 hours, so overnight accommodation needs to be accounted for. Insurance for this event is quite costly due to the Ninja Faeries, as any fire performance increases the cost dramatically bringing the total to 500. Marquee rental is one of the most expensive costs; however, depending on weather these may not be required, if we inform the rental company 24 hours before the start of the event that we do not require them, they will not deliver or charge us for them. Our volunteer costs cover any out-of-pocket expenses for our volunteers. Such as the travel to/from promotional areas & food for those days and also covers any costs for the day of the event.

Project Evaluation
Our team is really enthusiastic about the concept of this event and really hope you can help us bring it to fruition and for it to achieve its full potential in its direct effect on people and in its underlying message and moral philosophy. The funding we require is immeasurable compared to the difference we can make to the way people lead their lives and hopefully improve their quality of living. We ensure you that the funding you invest in our event will be spent cunningly and the results will be evident. This festival incorporates art, charity and community inclusion which involves people from all walks of the community. We are requesting the funding required to ensure this event is a complete success and can accommodate as much of the community as possible. If you have any questions, or would like any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
