You have requested information on the total costs to the Home Office of all external Counsel‟s fees on the following extradition cases: - Gary McKinnon - David Bermingham - Gary Mulgrew - Giles Darby - Shrien Dewani - Christopher Tappin - Richard O‟Dwyer - Julian Assange Information The total cost to the Home Office of all external Counsel‟s fees for the fir st seven cases is £133,283.70. The Home Office does not hold information on the case of Julian Assange. Although the Home Office maintains the policy and legislative oversight of the European Arrest Warrant (EAW), the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) and the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (for Scotland) are the designated authorities responsible for its operation in the UK. However you should note that SOCA is not listed in Schedule 1 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, and as such is not obliged to respond to Freedom of Information requests. SOCA is also not listed as a „Scottish Public Authority‟ in the Freedom of Information (Scotland Act 2002).Any information from, or relating to SOCA has an absolute exemption from disclosure by other public authorities by virtue of Section 23 of the Act (as amended by the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005) WORKING TOGETHER TO PROTECT THE PUBLIC " id="pdf-obj-0-2" src="pdf-obj-0-2.jpg">
