October 23, 2012 Dear I would like to draw your attention to the interview of Shri Nitin Gadkari, President, BJP by Sh. Srinivasan Jain. The interview was telecast on NDTV 24x7 channel on October 21st, 2012 and related to a company of Sh. Gadkari, viz. Purti Power and Sugar Ltd, which is based in Nagpur. It is believed that the BJP President had acquired Purti Sakhar Karkhana, which had shut down. I must compliment NDTV for the exhaustive investigation that they have conducted on Purti Power and Sugar Ltd. In this context, I would like to bring to your notice a report sent to me, which has been compiled from the information extracted from the official site of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. NDTV investigations, as well as this report, make some very pertinent points that require serious attention: The companies that bought equity in Purti Power and Sugar Ltd (PPSL) appear to be defunct companies, which hadn't done business for a long time. Out of nowhere, these companies got the Capital to buy equity in PPSL, most likely from another layer of Shell Companies. It is not possible for a TV channel to further investigate into such shell companies. Most of these companies have given bogus addresses, which were verified by the NDTV investigative team. d) Sagar Shripad Kotwaliwale, 520, Govind Niwas c/o Shripad Risaldar Line, Wakar Road, Mahal, Nagpur - 440032. It is also interesting to note that all the companies have used a single email id. i.e. rajeshsharma54@yahoo.com All above facts are strong enough to merit an enquiry by the Serious Fraud Investigation Organization, under the aegis of Ministry of Company Affairs. Sh. Nitin Gadkari has also said that he is open to a free and fair investigation. Being the National President of BJP, it is in the fitness of things that his case is properly investigated and he gets a fair opportunity to prove his innocence and clear his name. I would be very grateful if you could forward my letter to the Ministry of Corporate Affairs for instituting an enquiry by Serious Fraud Investigation Office, for which a prima facie case does exist.
