Adult Dual Cannula Tracheostomy Tube Selection Guide


15 mm Connector on Disposable Inner Cannula (DIC) Trach Tie Hole Soft-Swivel Neck Flange Wing Clips on DIC
NoTe: The 15 mm connector is built into the Shiley inner cannula. An inner cannula should be with the patient at all times to ensure that airway patency can be quickly restored and to facilitate mechanical ventilation. Respiratory and anesthesia equipment can only be attached when the inner cannula is in place.

For weaning from ventilator. Patients may be ventilated at night and not ventilated during the day.

For voice restoration and weaning from tracheostomy tube. Fenestrations (holes in the tube shaft) allow air to flow past vocal cords, facilitating speech.

Cuff MUST be deflated before using fenestrations in combination with CAP or speaking valve. Fenestrated tubes require care in selection and placement to minimize granulation tissue risk. Fenestrated tubes require care in selection and placement to minimize granulation tissue risk.
