NOVEMBER 1, 2012 PAGE THREE Thomas Davis- Commercial Loan Officer at Bank of the Sierra in Hanford, CA I was born and grew up in Watsonville, CA. I graduated from Watsonville High School in 1994. After taking a few years off to work and decide what I wanted to do, I moved to Fresno. In the winter of 1997, I enrolled at Fresno City College. I graduated with an Associates of Science in General Studies in the summer of 1999. I then transferred to California State University, Fresno where I began business studies in the Craig School of Business. I graduated, Summa Cum Laude, in the winter of 2003 from Fresno State with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis on Financial Planning. My wife is Michelle Davis and she works at Verizon Wireless as an Assistant Manager. We have two children. Our son Xander is 5 years old and our daughter Ariel is over 8 months. Our happy family has two dogs. Buddy is a German Sheppard and Noel is a Chihuahua Terrier. I worked at Mervyns for over 5 years, in Fresno, while going to school. Once I graduated from Fresno State, I took a job at Beneficial Finance in Clovis as an Account Executive. I worked my way up the ranks and became a Branch Manager at Beneficial in late 2005. After Beneficial closed in February of 2009, I took on a few various jobs before landing as a Credit Analysis at Central Valley Community Bank in Fresno. I studied the nuances of credit vigorously and took advantage of every credit training and refresher possible. I was there until August of 2012. I left Central Valley to start work at Bank of the Sierra, as a Commercial Loan Officer, in Hanford, CA. I enjoy working in Hanford and the Bank was recently recognized as the number one Bank in Kings County! I officially became a Member of Rotary on October 4th, 2012. Frank Silva proposed me as a member. I learned of Rotary through him and my Area Manager Mark Ulibarri. I joined Rotary to be a more helpful citizen in the community while building new friendships and network connections. I came to enjoy the weekly lunch meetings and I appreciate all the testimonies, messages and thoughts presented at the gatherings. I respect the meaning of the Four Way test. My hobbies include dieting and health, golfing, hanging out with friends and social gatherings. I also enjoy weekend drives to the coast, mountains and other places. I always make time for my family first though and it is exciting with a new born baby girl. I enjoy every minute I spend with the children. In five years, I will be living in Kings County with influential friendships built on honesty, experience and knowledge. I will be helping others in the community through social events, fundraisers and meeting the banking needs of clients. I also see myself mastering the craft of commercial lending/underwriting. I will be guiding my children through grammar school. I see myself helping my wife work less as I hopefully can generate more income. I also see my wife and I having more time as the kids will be older and more self sufficient. I believe I will be in Senior Bank Management in 10 years. By then, my experience, knowledge, customer base and influence will be enough to help the Bank achieve Strategic long term goals. I also believe I will have accumulated enough wealth that I will be able to give back to the community I live in. My resources will be able to help those in less favorable places. I also picture myself as a mentor to other bankers and fellow Rotarians. The kids will be in high school and I will be supporting whatever aspirations and desires they seek. I will be keeping an extra eye on my beautiful daughter. My wife and I will continue to expand our relationship with vacations, time off and other events to support our desired lifestyles. THOMAS TOM DAVIS THE REAL VEGETABLE SOUP ala OROSI (8 12 Servings) 1 ONION 6 GARLIC CLOVES 2 CARROTS 2 CUPS WINE (RED OR WHITE) 2 CELERY STALKS 2 TABLESPOONS DRIED BASIL 2 ZUCCHINI 3 LARGE CANS (32 OZ.) BEEF BROTH 2 14.5 oz. CANS OF DICED TOMATOES CUP TOMATO PASTE 2 TABLESPOONS OLIVE OIL ADD WATER/STOCK TO COVER. 1 TEASPOON SALT SEASON TO TASTE WITH THE FOLLOWING; 10 OZ FROZEN GREEN BEANS OREGANO, CHILI FLAKES, HOT SAUSE, SALT, 1 CAN (14.5 oz) RED KIDNEY BEENS, DRAINED PEPER, ITALIAN SEASONING BLEND, CUP SPAGHETTI BROKEN INTO 2 INCH PIECES LEMON JUICE. 1 SLICE EACH VEGETABLE SEPARATELY 2 HEAT OLIVE OIL IN A LARGE SAUSE PAN. USING MEDIUM HEAT, SAUTE ONIONS UNTIL TENDER. ADD THE BEEF BROTH, WINE AND SLICED VEGETABLES. BRING TO A BOIL 3 ADD SALT, GREEN BEANS WHICH HAVE BEEN THAWED, SPAGHETTI AND WELL-DRAINED KIDNEY BEANS. BRING TO A SIMMER AND COOK ABOUT 10 MINUTES LONGER. 4 ADD PARMESAN CHEESE (optional), GARLILC, SALT, TOMATO PASE, A TOUCH OF TRUFFLE OIL TO THE SOUP AND STIR. 5 ADD BOUILLON OR DEMI-GLAZE TO TASTE. IF DEMI-GLAZE IS USED DESOLVE 2 TBLS IN A CUP OF HOT WATER. 6 THE LONGER YOU LET THE SOUP SIMMER THE BETTER IT WILL BE. IF YOU MAKE IT AHEAD AND LET ALL OF THE INGREDIENTS GET ACQUAINTED WITH EACH OTHER IT WILL BE EVEN BETTER. Modify to fit your tastes, I never make it the same way as I usually do it to taste. Add more broth as needed. If you use water it will require more seasoning. The demi-glaze is not an absolute necessity. Ask me and I can either get you a recipe or tell you where to buy it. It adds a lot of flavor but can be left out. LARRY AYERS, PP
