Preparing this newsletter has been a rush job at the last minute, due to the fact that the Gilroys have both been sick with the flu for the past month. Heather was lucky not to have had the
2

very bad dose that I got, in which I almost lost my voice! Just after our last club meeting I came down with it and had it for a couple of weeks, them it seemed to go away for a

day or two, then it was on again worse than before. We had hoped to go on a search with Kathryn McCloghry but had to put a raincheck on that until I recovered. As I write the flu seems to be going away so that I should be on my feet by the time you read this newsletter! Latest Gilroy Book Report. As just about everyone knows, Heather and Rex Gilroy have been working upon a massive book on Cryptozoology for the past five years, containing thousands of reports and hundreds of photos and artwork. The manuscript was completed long ago and then put on disk. The cover art is ready, thanks to Andrew Leese, and all that is needed to complete the process is the completion of the scanning of the remaining photos and their captions, then its off to the printers. We are publishing this massive book to celebrate one Rex Gilroys 50th Anniversary as the founding father of Australian Cryptozoology and Yowie [ie Relict Hominology research. Two new books on the Yowie [already completed] will follow in due course as part of the celebrations. Our massive Cryptozoology book contains thousands of reports as already stated, and these cover a wide range of sea, land and air creatures throughout the whole Australasian region. This will not only be the largest book so far published on Cryptozoology anywhere in the world to our knowledge, and it is certainly the largest on the subject ever written in Australia. Readers will be kept informed of the release date. The massive task which we undertook to bring this project to fruition, which involved five years work, with additional fieldwork, aided by Greg Foster and others can be seen in the results, none of which would have been possible without the help of Heather, who put the manuscript on the computer from my typed pages. This book holds a great many surprises and we anticipate international success for it. In September this year Rex Gilroy also
3

celebrates 50 years as an UFOlogist, and as part of these celebrations we are publishing a new UFO book full of fantastic surprises. This book should be released by the end of the year or early in 2007. I shall be delivering a slide presentation based on some of the contents of this book at the forthcoming Queensland UFO Conference [Saturday 30th September Sunday 1st October I will speak on the Saturday]. Meanwhile Pyramids of Destiny Lost Colonies of the Bronze-Age GodKings is presently having the hundreds of photos added. We anticipate its publication in early 2007. This book is the sequel to Pyramids in the Pacific The Unwritten History of Australia and concerns the hundreds of colonies established by mining expeditions from the Middle and Near-Eastern civilisations. This book is expected to be a big seller due to its contents; ie photos of pyramids in Australia and New Zealand, countless Egyptian and Phoenician rock inscriptions [among others], and other relicts left here by colonists 3,0005,000 years before the arrival of the over-rated Dutch explorers and Captain James Cook RN! We could go on, but will just say that URU Publications will be very busy over coming months! -0-

In our April 2006 issue we revealed that a large rock slab discovered by me at Riverstone bore 12th century Viking script. At the time photos were unavailable and I had to do a sketch. Finally the photos taken that day are now available, and as the article in the April issue showed, the inscription [translated in that issue] revealed an expedition of ships having arrived in Brisbane Waters and sailed up the Hawkesbury River, to venture up a creek in search of a good farming location for settlement purposes. Basically, the shorthand Scandinavian inscription stated: Landing here in our six longships led by the ship Thors Hammer sailed by our leader Iala, we established this settlement dedicated to Odin. Ayas crew erected a stone telling of their ship. The Serpent, and their voyage from the north, where Uiis ship Odin protected by our god Odin himself, fought and left the bones of the Skraelings* they killed. We are all

Monstrous Fossil Hominid Footprints Discovered in Wollemi Scrub.

By Rex Gilroy.

On Sunday 21st May 2006, the Gilroys and Greg Foster made a visit into the Wollemi wilderness hoping to find more panther tracks. We had no luck in that regard, but on the way there, while stopping to have a look at nearby cliffs, where Greg had previously found Uru script, I explored off on my own to uncover two massive footprints of some gargantuan being upon a clifftop. The tracks lay one behind the other going west, separated 68cm apart. The westernmost [right] foot impression measured 1.3m length by 64cm width across the toes, 52cm across the mid foot and 56cm across the heel. This track was slightly smaller than the left [rear] one, which was 1.4m length by 76cm width across the toes, 70cm width at mid foot and 52cm across the heel. The tracks were embedded about 4cm deep in the solid rock [ironstone]. The monster hominid who left these gigantic tracks through time had to have stood up to 50ft [15m] tall! Such monstrous beings are well known to Aboriginal tradition, and as already reported by me in the past, numbers of such tracks are coming to light across Australia, although the largest concentration so far discovered appears to be on the Blue Mountains.

The tracks had been covered by a volcanic ash fall. But how old are these titan tootsies? This is the problem, for they cannot be less than several million years old, even older! Such finds do not surprise Temple of Nim research team members, for Australia is not only the oldest continent on Earth, but also it possesses a history of hominid evolution so startling as to make all present text books on the subject redundant, were it ever to be accepted by the conservative university establishment! The Second Giant Endocast Skulltype from the Wadbilliga Range.

The tracks head west and would have continued on beyond the cliff where once was flat ground, long since eroded away to create a deep gully.

Readers will recall the big discovery, on Wednesday 20th January 2004, deep in the Wadbilliga Mountains inland from Moruya, on the New South Wales far south coast, of the huge endocast of a giant hominid [ie giant Homo erectus form] skull, by Antji Westrip and myself, from deposits dating at least 350,000 years BP [Before Present]. At the time this was the first skull evidence of a giant hominid [apart from the large fragment of cranium from Coolah NSW found by the author] in the world. Then, upon our return to the location, on Monday 30th August 2004, a few hundred feet along the same dry creek

bed from the bankside site of the first giant endocast, I stumbled upon another giant endocast, whose incomplete features differed markedly from those of the first. For, whereas the first specimen was the frontal portion of a [missing] long, narrow braincase [ie doliocephalic] skull-type whose remaining cranial section measured 33cm in length by the same in width across the facial section and 16cm in depth; the second skull endocast, also lacking the rear braincase area, measured 28cm in length from nasal area to rear of endocast, by 33cm width across the facial section by 27cm in depth. The first giant endocast, which includes a crushed lower jaw area, displays a flattish cranium leading back from where the faint remains of which, projecting brow ridges would have been. The second endocast had it been intact with a lower jaw, would have been of a probable larger hominid than the first specimen, for it possesses eye sockets 11cm in length by 11cm in height, being 13cm apart, between which extends downward the filled in area of a massive nasal passage. The forehead recedes back high above the sockets and the skull would have been brachiocephalic [ie rounded]. Both monster hominids had to have been over 3.66cm in height at least and of powerful muscular build. This second specimen is of a modern ie late form of giant Homo erectus, whereas the other specimen is that of an archaic giant erectus form. However, the second skull came from 380,000 year old deposits, which tend to make this more modern-looking form older than the archaic example. The answer to this puzzle is of course that either material for the archaic form still awaits us, hopefully somewhere nearby at this site, situated deep within the Wadbilliga mountain range; home, according to old Aboriginal traditions, of the Wadbilliga Giant. We have since uncovered basalt megatools in the region much the same as the famous 1969 Bathurst district examples. Both giant endocasts feature in the forthcoming Cryptozoology and Yowie books of the Gilroys. They are yet further reminders that this continent possesses an unknown, hidden past of Old Stone-Age hominid evolution yet to be recognised by a scientific establishment fixated on the Out of Africa explanation for human origins, when it is becoming quite clear that modern humans evolved from Homo erectus first in Australia and not Africa!

UFO Abductions and Disappearances.

By Rex Gilroy.

As everyone in Blue Mountains UFO Research Club knows, the Blue Mountains has a long history of UFO activity. Here are further local UFO happenings to consider During 1955 UFO sightings were reported over a wide area of the Blue Mountains. In April that year a light aircraft flying from outside Cowra, was observed by people about 11am in the Oberon area, and by almost 11.30am it was seen flying over Blackheath towards the Grose Valley. Here it was seen by a large number of people to enter a large cloud, whereupon it did not reappear. Instead a large grey-coloured saucer-type craft emerged from the cloud and zoomed off northwards. RAAF officials at Richmond Air Base offered no explanation when approached by phone callers. In September 1969 during June, at 10am in the morning, a farmer outside Tarlo, which lies north of Goulburn, was laughed at by locals, when he claimed that a large metallic-shining flying saucer hovered over his back property and sucked up two cows before zooming away over the hills northwards. What may have been the same craft was reported seen flying over Katoomba by many people about thirty minutes later. Outside Porters Retreat, about 40km south of Oberon, in 1975, property owners reported having seen a large, sphericalshaped object, silver-glowing, on a number of occasions. It was said to hover over properties and houses for up to half and hour at a time. One local, a Mr Clarkson, claimed he had to pull up his car on a road in the area one night, when a big glowing ball materialised on the road ahead of him. I turned the car around and drove back the way I had come, he said later. However, in another incident, a man hiking along a dirt road at Shooters Hill south of Oberon, was claimed seen by a housewife from her kitchen window one afternoon in the winter of 1960, to just
7

disappear into a silver-glowing ball of light, which immediately shot off at great speed over her house. ***** The Burragorang Valley researches of our club need no introduction, nor the 30 years of so work I have put into collecting every piece of data on the phenomena surrounding the underground Advanced Space Travel Technology base established there. The Australian/American military presence there demonstrates the importance of this vast centre [which is featured in our next UFO book]. So important is it that people who have stumbled upon it, and even nosey light aircraft pilots, have just vanished into those valley depths. In 1951 three soldiers entered the valley, intent upon locating the wreckage of a wartime fight plane, which they believed might have crashed in a particular area of the valley, They subsequently vanished without trace. A search was organised but quickly called off, on the orders of high-ranking Australian Army personnel. One camper, who happened to penetrate the valley was surprised to come across a large saucer nest in a forest clearing. Yet the most startling incident occurred in 1953 when a lone camper, Brian Dogherty, while camped under the stars one night, saw a large, dark saucershaped craft moving over the surrounding tree tops. As he got to his feet he heard a loud crunching sound as the craft landed in a nearby patch of gum forest above the gully he was camped in. It was a long time before he got back to sleep, and by the time he awoke, and went in search of the landing site of the mystery craft, it had lifted off and flown elsewhere. All that Brian found was an area of trees and shrubbery that had been broken and flattened. That same year a hiker, Peter Suttor, happened to penetrate an area beneath the cliffs on the south side of he valley one day, which it turned out, was in the vicinity of two saucer nests discovered earlier by campers. From the protection of shrubbery, he saw at a distance, several man-sized forms clothed in what he later described as spacesuits. The mysterious beings appeared to be searching the ground with strange metal devices, apparently collecting soil and rock samples. It was not long before Peter told of his strange encounter to friends, including a UFO group at Fairfield. In turn, the incident was related to a member of the group to a friend in Liverpool Army Camp.

This soldier, and two others from Ingleburn, day, as it hovered over Medlow Bath, a few while on leave, decided that they would go kilometres west of Katoomba. on a camping trip to investigate the area of -0Peter Suttors strange sighting. Setting off from Warragamba Township, they attempted to follow the approximate route taken by Peter. It is believed that they penetrated several kilometres inland to the approximate area where the strange figures had been seen. However, it was beyond a certain point that all trace of them was lost. Despite searchers efforts, like the earlier Next Issue: three servicemen two years before, all More surprises, and of course trace of these soldiers was lost. your valuable reports. Furthermore, all further mention of their disappearance was soon lost in the official wall of silence that descended on the whole Our previous meeting was a matter. huge success and we look In 1952, Mrs H McLean of Oatley, forward to seeing another big south of Sydney, was sitting in her backyard one afternoon at 2.30pm when roll-up at our next one. There should be some good she saw a spinning disc-shaped object flying at terrific speed across the sky from Skywatches ahead of us up east to west. Within minutes, residents here at Katoomba, weather over a wide area of the Blue Mountains permitting. were reporting sightings to police and radio stations of what must have been the same object. Meanwhile, theres a lot Another less-publicised event, and happening up there at one which must have been witnessed by present so, many other residents of the area, occurred near Katoomba in 1955, when a bright until our next meeting green object, emitting an orange-coloured flame, passed over the district from west to Watch the Skies! east at a height of about 10,000 feet, making a roaring sound very much like that Rex and Heather. of a diesel locomotive. Though it was too high for any detailed description, Carl Knox and his brother Leonard saw the object as it soared over their Katoomba home. The following day they were among the hundreds of people who heard over Sydney radio that a mysterious object had crashed into the sea off Sydney Harbour. The 1960s saw a great many reports, both day and night, of UFOs seen hovering, or even descending into the Burragorang Valley. It reminds this author of his first UFO sighting, which occurred on 15th February 1959, when one bright cloudy day [when there was to be an eclipse of the Sun], at a point overlooking Jamieson Valley on Cliff Drive above Leura Cascades, I spotted a stationary silver object hovering among passing clouds on that windy day. The object, a reversed cone-shape, began to move off slowly to the north-west over Katoomba. What appeared to have been the same object was reported seen by Radio station 2KA listeners later that same
