Treatment for Documentary Film

I will be creating a channel 4 documentary which will be an extract of 5 minutes. The theme I have chosen to focus my documentary on cruelty to dogs. I decided to do this topic as results from my questionnaire both non specific and specific it was clear to me that people would be interested in this topic and would like to see exposure and learn about what really goes on when it comes to cruelty to dogs. The type of documentary I will be producing will be a participatory documentary which means I will be shown in the documentary. To record my r documentary I will be using a HD Camera and a tripod this is to make sure the quality is good and when the camera is recording it will not be out of focus or shaky. In order to get footage and interviews for my documentary I may have to call up or send an email to places like the dogs homes around Birmingham. I also have seen campaign people in my local town who are protesting dogs who have been abused after being racing dogs. I hope to be able to speak to people in these areas of work as I will get a real understanding and good footage of things I need to educate and expose dogs who have been abused. I will have to ask questions like how many dogs a month do you rescue from being abused and what breed of dog is the one whos been rescued the most. I could also speak to the RSPCA and also the police to get some facts and figures and see how many calls a week they get about the topic. I do not wish to show any footage of a dog being abused as I thing that is completely inappropriate however I do hope to get footage of a dog who has been abused but is now living a happy life to show people of what such a good job the rescue places do in finding a dog a home and getting them back to health. The point of my documentary is to show people what a good job dog homes etc places do for dogs , and that dogs should NOT be abused however it does go on and they should be educated to help prevent it from happening or learning about adopting a dog , when people are not 100% committed can be disastrous.

Characters

Costume

There will be no costumes used just real day to day people, so nothing will be set up.

Sound

I will be using non-diagetic sounds added in to scenes I feel necessary to create a certain atmosphere and get the audience feeling how I want them to feel. Then there will be a lot of diagetic sounds used to really give the audience a feel of how it feels to be in the situation.
